“Sparkling clean and perfect”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2014

I've stayed at a few holiday rentals and this was definitely one of the best. The cottage was perfect for myself, my husband and two young children. It was spotlessly clean and freshly decorated. All the amenities we needed were there, including a combi boiler, dishwasher, freezer, Freesat TV and washing machine (essential when travelling with kids!). The enclosed garden was lovely and very private. The neighbouring properties were quiet, making this retreat peaceful. The addition of off road parking and its central location made this the ideal holiday rental. The beach and the pier was 5 minutes walk away, along with The Rock Shop, butchers, bakery, restaurants, takeaways, post office, Boots and a Sainsbury's local. We travelled out and around the Isle during the day, but came "home" to relax and enjoy the beach every night. The owner, Jacqueline, is friendly and helpful and made the arrangements nice and easy. Many thanks!

“A wonderful find!”

Reviewed 4 Nov 2013

We found the cottage exceptionally well-equipped, very clean and great value for money. It is in an ideal position - convenient for beaches, walks, shops and restaurants - and is one of the best self-catering properties we have found. We hope to return before too long.

“Very pleasant”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2013

We found that this little cottage was just what we required for our weekend away with our 2 children; short walking distance to the pleasant family beach at Sandown, cottage very clean and nicely fitted out and the owner extremely helpful and easy to deal with. You might find it a bit more snug than you would want if you were staying any longer with 2 adults/ 2 children but really excellent value and we would certainly book again for a long weekend.

“Really nice place to stay”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2013

I stayed in this small cottage for just over two weeks in November. On my arrival I was able to park my car in the designated off-street parking spot in front of the cottage and the owners were there to welcome me and show me around the cottage, which was clean and tidy and extremely well-equipped. The cottage is in a really perfect location, being only a few minutes walk to the centre of the town, or down to the beach and I particularly enjoyed being able to take a short walk to the end of road, cross a small park and find myself on the lovely cliff-top walk. The cottage has an attractive small patio, which unfortunately I was not able to use because of the weather in November!. The owners of the cottage could not have been more helpful and I would certainly recommend this as a place to stay.

“A wonderful little retreat!”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

Highly recommend Longshoremans cottage. The location is superb being just a short stroll to the local shops and the beautiful Sandown Beach. Having a parking space is a must as most streets are yellow lines/pay and display. Sandown itself is a lovely area with many nice gift shops and a handy sainsburys and Co-Op local just a short walk away. Took us about 20mins to get here from ferry and we wereblown away. The cottage has everything you could wish for and is tastefully decorated. As for the little garden, a lovely secluded retreat for a glass of wine in the evenings. A lovely peaceful location both day and night. Having come to the IOW as a child for many years, its lovely to come back and share the same beautiful Island with my own family. Of course the weather helps and this to did not let us down. I can't thank the owners enough for their kindness and helpfulness with an easy booking.

“Lovely hideaway, beautifully decorated and near to all attractions. Blissful!”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2012

Booked Longshoremans cottage as an easter break and it was a perfect setting close to the pier and sea front of Sandown - Literally 5 minutes through the gardens or down the high street. It has been recently decorated to high standards and has a fully fitted kitchen that you could easily cook in if you wanted to and had a dishwasher which was an added bonus as many holiday lets dont have this. Could have just done with some more crockery and cutlery as the dishwasher was never full when we used it. No real criticisms though as the cottage is just superb! We loved it and as a result we would definatley go back. It is very good value for money! There is one bedroom with a double bed and and a sofa bed which suited the 2 of us. The garden is great too as is very protected and a lovely spot to sit and have a glass or 2 when the weather is nice. Travelled the whole island by car, foot and train and loved it as much as the first time we visited 3 years ago. Needles, Tennysons monument, Ventnor, Shanklin and Sandown all worth the trip. Frequented the local pubs on the sea front and could recommend them all for food and drink. The beaches were great to walk on and the pier great fun when wet weather kicked in Overall a top place!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for us and leaving such lovely comments. We really appreciate the constructive remarks regarding the cutlery and crockery and we will be adding more. So glad that you had a good holiday.
