Description

Casa Benessere, a restored farmhouse, is set in the magical, untouched Le Marche region which neighbours Umbria and Tuscany. Close, and to the west, lies the wonder of the Sibillini mountains. And just 50 minute’s drive to the east, there’s 180km of bewitching Adriatic coastline including the exquisite beaches of Sirolo, where you can also take a short boat ride to one of the many isolated coves.

The property, the landscape and the peaceful, inspiring spirit of this area are why we chose the name Benessere, which means wellbeing. Casa Benessere is made up of three buildings. There’s the main farm house with five bedrooms, the old barn with two bedrooms and an impressive studio for yoga & pilates and, on the hill-top overlooking the property, the privata casa. All eight bedrooms are en suite doubles, there is a large swimming pool and a host of contemporary comforts including a large extensively equipped kitchen with a big granite worktop as its focal point.

The Marche region

Most have heard of Tuscany and Umbria. Yet few people know about Le Marche. Set between the sea and soaring mountains, this part of central Italy remains an undiscovered jewel.

Untouched by mass tourism, Le Marche moves at its own gentle pace while offering the visitor a host of memorable experiences. Casa Benessere is the perfect base from which to explore its riches.

You can wander from one medieval hill-top town to another, they are scattered throughout Le Marche, each one a jewel - Cingoli, Urbino, Osimo, Loreto, to name a few. To the North, you’ll discover Urbino, the Renaissance town and birthplace of Raphael (1hr 40min). Then there’s Macerata (40min), an elegant town celebrated for its annual outdoor opera festival running from June to August. Throughout summer, in fact, open air festivals, palios and pageants take place across all of Le Marche.

The region is also home to many natural wonders. The Frassasi Caves (45min) are one example. Discovered in 1971, this is the longest cave network in Italy, with one chamber big enough to house Milan Cathedral. The Sibillini National Park (50min) has many great walks and hikes, with skiing in the winter months. And of course, then there are the beaches with many choices along the 180km coastline.

San Severino

The medieval hill-top city of Cingoli, known as the 'Balcony of the Marches' is just 20 minutes’ drive away and has panoramic views over the hills to the sea. It is home to Italy’s best known motor cross trails. Cingoli also has a beautiful lake ideal for swimming and a Water park great for family days out. Closer to home (15 minutes’ drive), you’ll find San Severino, known as the 'City of Art'. Like Cingoli, it has museums, galleries, churches and monasteries while there are lots of excellent dining choices, bars and shops. Matelica (25 mins) has excellent museums and is well known for its excellent DOC wine, Verdicchio di Matelica. The Frasassi caves in Genga (45 mins) are the most extensive cave system in Europe. One of the caves is large enough to house Milan Cathedral. Fabriano (40 mins) is long renowned for the manufacture of paper, which dates back to the 12th century, the oldest in Italy. The paper museum there is worth a visit.

Le Marche is a pioneering region in organic farming. Around the coast, you’ll find excellent seafood and brodetto (fish soup), with each area offering its own delicious variant on the ingredients. Inland there are other delights. This is truffle country, and they have been part of the culture for the past 300 years. Every type is found in the area, so local restaurants serve seasonal truffle dishes all year long. Le Marche is home to the famous white wine Verdicchio. In fact, there are currently 11 DOC areas in Le Marche (this denotes a regulated wine of a high standard, so watch out for the label).

There is also great shopping, many of Italy's top design houses have outlet shops in Le Marche and within 1.5- 2 hours there are four of Italy's most famous theme parks (Mirabilandia, Fabilandia, Le Navi & Italia in Miniatura).

“Fantastic stay in a fantastic house”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2015

We had a wonderful stay in Caroline's house. Very well equipped with everything you could think you need, nicely decorated and convenient. We were 7 adults and 7 kids and the house could definitely accommodate our group without the feeling of being too crowded. The garden was in an impeccable state and the kids loved playing around on the large greens surfaces. The pool was a little bit on the side of the side, which suited us well. And we used the lovely yoga studio several times - morning and evening yoga with a stunning view. The surroundings were quiet, peaceful and the house was situated on a hill with an amazing view. Caroline was very helpful prior the stay and she gave us several advice on what to do and where to go. She also put us in contact with a local wine producer that showed us his vineyard. All in all - one of our best stays in Italy.

“Excellent”

One of the best places we have ever stayed and look forward to going back in the summer 2016. Would highly recommend to anyone that has never visited this part of Italy and the villa is beautiful. Kids spent every second they could in the pool. Weather was good to us also and plenty to do in the area.

“Wonderful place to stay”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2014

Spent a lovely two weeks in Le Marche at Casa Benessere. The villa is in a wonderful location, away from other people so we didn't need to worry we were disturbing others when we were having fun in the pool. The views are fantastic and meant on sunny days one could be sitting out in the sunshine by the pool from 7am to 7pm. The villa is well furnished and a great size for our group of 16 people with en-suites for everyone a large dining room and lounge when it rained, the yoga studio for a bit of peace and huge grounds to sit out in. The people who come to look after the house were lovely, we practised our Italian with them but in fact they did have some English so we switched between the two. They were friendly and offered advice on things to do and where to go as well as responding quickly when for example we ran out of BBQ gas. We did a whole bunch of thing s during our stay. These included - some of the group visited the caves which are famous in the region - they were very impressive and the only advice I would give is to definitely dress for being cold - some regrets from the flip flop wearers - we did the wine tasting at Maraviglia - a small tour of the vineyards and then the actual tasting which was great - we came away with many cases to bring home. Recommend the drive over the mountains home but it's not for the faint hearted - the road is high and not well maintained but the views looked amazing. - we went up to the lake Cingoli and took out pedalos which was fun - the lake is enormous and we had a fun hour there followed by Aperol Spritzes at the little bar by the lake. - we visited Tolentino, Macerata, Cingoli and San Severino - all recommended. Cingoli was the quietest but worth a trip on market day. San Severino is also worth a trip for the market, the nice shoe shop, the restaurants, the supermarkets were where we did the bulk of our shopping. - we went to the beach at Civitanova Marche - lots of outlet shopping - Prada, Tods etc and then a nice beach where you could do DIY with towels or hire loungers. We got used to sitting down to have a couple of drinks and being served what felt like a full on meal of snacks to accompany them. The sea was clean - a few jellyfish around but we enjoyed the swimming. - a couple of great local restaurants we took from the book at the villa and we added our own with a trip to Marisa. This was a local restaurant recommended on Trip Advisor where one of our party who is a chef ended up helping in the kitchen which was great fun. - two of us got up early and did the circular walk from the villa - lovely views and amazing frescoes in the tiny church at the bottom of the valley. All in all we had a great time and I would recommend the villa to anyone with groups of friends, extended families, teenagers etcetc.

“Lovely Italian wedding celebration”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2014

We rented this property during one week in June 2014 for our wedding celebration in Le Marche. 16 guests stayed with us so we rented the whole property including the bedrooms under the yoga studio as well as the private cottage up the hill. The pictures are spot on of how the property looks in real life, if not better in real life! We found this house to be in the most lovely location, high up at the green hills with a fantastic view. The rooms were most spacious and have a rustic charm all along the property. The property downstairs with kitchen, dining and living room is very spacious and modern fitted yet kept the old Italian style. The pool area was clean and spacious although cold in the water, should be perfect on hot summer days. We arranged for catering in the house on our wedding day and the care taker Antonio went to great lengths to assist us in any way to make sure everything went as planned. He was very attentive and most helpful during the whole stay. We are already dreaming of going back to celebrate with our friends and family in the future!

“perfect house, perfect region, perfect vacation”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2014

Casa Benessere is a wonderful house in La Marche. It is perfectly equipped and leaves no wishes open. We were a group of 17 friends (7-50years old) and everyone, whether young or old, enjoyed it very much. Each room is as beautiful as the other and the views from every single room over the mountains of La Marche, were breathtaking!!! La Marche is one of the nicest (if not THE nicest) area of Italia and mostly undiscovered by other tourists. This makes it even nicer especially at the beach. However, the highlight of Casa Benessere is the amazing service! Whether cooking lesson (you have to do that!!!) or wine tasting: this will make it even more unforgettable! There are really no negative things to say about this house.......

“Fantastic property in a beautiful location”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2014

We stayed as a group of friends in June 2014 and had an absolutely wonderful week. This property is highly recommended for big groups (family or friends) looking to have a relaxing week away in a beautiful location. We would all recommend this place without any hesitation at all. The owners are very helpful and friendly and their caretaker Antonio was happy to help with any queries we had during the week. The house itself was spacious and very well equipped with everything you might need. We would highly recommend booking the chefs for at least one night (absolutely delicious italian food!), the trip to the vineyard (excellent value) and trying the circuit walk suggested in the property guide.

“Perfect place to get away from it all and experience the real Italy”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2013

The pictures don't do this property justice. The farmhouse and adjoining buildings have all been completed to a very high standard and were ideal for our party of 4 families with teenage children. It is situated in an extremely picturesque and tranquil area with wonderful views. The caretaker was there to meet us upon arrival as promised. One week wasn't long enough!

“Idyllic holiday for friends and family”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2013

Amazing views, great weather, lots to do and fabulous accommodation. All the right ingredients for a fantastic fun filled holiday in a beautiful part of Italy. We had days sat by the pool, cycle rides (and races), running walking and yoga. For those who wanted some culture, trips into San Severeno and Cingli are a must and for those who want to have the beach then Sirolo is about a 70min drive away. As a venue there is space for quiet time and party time. It has something for everyone.

“Aptly named Casa Bennesere”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2012

Paid a return trip to Casa Benessere and stayed in this wonderful house with a group of friends - all ages from young children to grandparents enjoyed this spacious, tranquil setting. Even with a large group of family and friends the accommodation was spacious and at times it was hard to believe there were almost 15 people in residence. The accommodation is spread over three buildings and all of the bedrooms are well appointed with large en suite bathrooms. The living/ cooking/ dining area is geared towards home cooking and chat - wonderful to have a facility where a large group can sit and eat together, both inside and outside. The pool area enjoys wonderful views of the rolling Italian countryside and is spotlessly clean with ample sun beds and umbrellas. The immediate area surrounding the house has plenty of hilly walking and cycling tracks. The nearby town of San Severino is a small, quaint Italian town with arched pathways in the central square with cafes, bars, ice cream parlours and all other shopping amenities needed. San Severino has many old churches and is worth exploring during your visit.

“Heaven on earth!”
