Description

The Charming House is a lovingly restored, authentic Old Caribbean island house, open to the sea breezes, on two floors with a roofed veranda/gallery' on the upper floor and a tiled patio below. The house, long the family home of the Lightbournes who remain one of Salt Cay's most prominent families, was rebuilt on the original floor plan, with the kitchen set to one side of a breezeway, the master bathroom featuring an antique copper top to the rear, and the parlour/living room and two bedrooms arranged on the ground floor. Upstairs is the master bedroom, a study/work/relaxation area, and the veranda.

The veranda commands a view of the whole island, with the tropical Atlantic/Caribbean on both west and east shores.

The Charming House is set in its own private walled yard in the historic district around the old Government House. It is some 100 yards from the North Creek and beaches to the east, with a two hundred yard stroll down the historic lanes to the lee shore beaches on the west. Pat's Place restaurant and the Dickenson Store for provisions are steps away.

House rules

Children are welcome. Salt Cay is a sociable place, and guests are welcome to host new friends at the house, but parties or open house events are not allowed.
Water is a precious commodity on Caribbean islands, and guests are asked to to comply with guidelines for water use which will be offered by our house manager.
Gates to the yard must the kept securely closed at all times: wandering donkeys and cattle are a part of the island charm, but will destroy years of work in the garden in minutes.

How do damage deposits work?

If Charles (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
