Villa Lucciola is situated in the valley of the Bormida, amidst the hills of the Alta Langa in Piemonte, Italy.
The house has been carefully restored and extended to provide over 450 sq. m. of spacious, modern, luxury living. It can comfortably accommodate 8 people with 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There are a further 2 communal wc.
Floor to ceiling windows flood the spacious main lounge with natural light providing spectacular views of the valley.
There is a modern and bright, fully fitted kitchen. The Dining area is surrounded on 2 sides with floor to ceiling windows. There is a second, more private lounge on the top floor. This is the perfect setting for quiet moments relaxing beneath the majestic span of the chestnut roof beams. The laundry room on the ground floor has a washing machine and dryer, second fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. A cloakroom and changing room is by the villa entrance.
The outdoor living area has a pool which is 8m x 4m and 1.4m deep. The pool is solar heated. There is a solar shower and separate built-in spa bath with multiple water jets. Wooden decking covers both the pool and outdoor dining area.
Sun loungers, poolside towels and hammam spa towels are provided.
The outdoor kitchen has a 6 pit Gas BBQ, sink and plenty of preparation space. This area is covered by a shade cloth.
There are various terraces throughout the gardens which provide different sitting areas, whether for sun or shade. At night the pool and garden lights create a magical environment.
The villa is perfectly located for all the attractions of Piemonte and Liguria. Within 60 km and 60 minutes of the house there are vineyards to sample delicious wines, the Italian Riviera, ski slopes, truffle markets, excellent shopping and restaurants (from Michelin starred to local eateries).
The closest cities are Genoa, Turin, Nice and Milan.
There is a welcome package on arrival. The package contains some tea bags, coffee, snacks and 2 bottles of wine. The tap water in the villa is good to drink but is very hard. A water filter jug is provided and filtered water must be used for the kettle and coffee machine.
We can provide unique experiences at extra cost. We can arrange seasonal meals prepared and cooked in the villa by a local Piemontesa. There are cookery classes which teach the local cuisine. It is great fun making ravioli!

“A beautiful secluded villa in the Italian countryside”
We stayed at Villa Lucciola in August 2013 and it was just what we wanted: a secluded, completely private luxury villa with a pool in the hills of Piedmont. The house has been furnished to a very high standard, with luxury fittings in the bathrooms, wood floors and beautiful linens. It's ideal for a family retreat or for a large group due to the large entertaining areas and kitchen. Surrounding the house are terraced hills that were once farmed but have been reclaimed by the forest, with an old road leading up to a beautiful, tiny chapel on top of the hill. The closest village is Saliceto, where the people are very friendly and helpful (even if your Italian is poor) and the food market has incredible local cheese, bread, vegetables and fruit. The house is a great base if you are planning to explore the region's vineyards or take part in the truffle hunt.

We travelled down to Piemonte, with the hope of exploring the local wines, maybe taking in the celebrations for the annual truffle festivals we have read about and having a relaxing break too, and we were not disappointed. The house itself is in a magnificent setting overlooking a spectacular river valley. It’s set on a hillside set up above a minor road just outside a little village, so there are no immediate neighbours. It is beautifully appointed, and on a grand scale. It’s clearly almost new and well maintained. A lovely open plan living space with a super kitchen. It’s got a magnificent picture window looking out across the valley, and a fancy woodburner which heated the place up in the evening. There are three lovely rustic bedrooms with antique furniture up in the roof space. In front of the house is a pleasant terrace above and orchard with a Jacuzzi and a heated swimming pool. It comes with a sizeable plot of land so you can take walks straight from the back door up in to the hills behind. The hosts Monique and Matt, who were both there for the weekend, stay in separate accommodation, but they made us most welcome and spoiled us with their hospitality and their incredible knowledge of the area and where to indulge our passions for food and wine! We drove down from Milan through the heart of the region and the roads were very good, much better than I expected. It’s basically motorway all the way. We returned via the coast which was spectacular stopping off in the lovely town Varazze for a great lunch. I could not recommend this location enough. The temperature was pleasant enough in October, but I am hoping to come back in Spring next time, which I am told is equally spectacular.
“Luxurious taste of rural Piedmont”
We arrived after a great drive from Milan to be greeted with the most traditional and tasty antipasti , accompanied by a perfect wine from the area. and topped with a beautifully set table. And this was just the welcome snack as food got just absolutely out of this world, especially at the Il Boscareto Spa hotel restaurant where the owners took us for the truffle festival. From any of the balcony doors you can admire the rolling mountains of the area and down below a small river. The interior décor of the house and the big high spaces make you feel calm, with an air of grandeur. We visited the local butcher where we found exquisite delicacies and the most tender cuts of meat which were cooked for us by the owner 's Italian friends. We enjoyed an early walk before breakfast just of our door step, but also explored the vineyards located less than an hour away. Highly recommended.
