The Midi-Pyrénées region
Ste Eulalie d'Olt is a mediaeval village in the Upper Lot Valley on the site of an ancient Roman settlement on the banks of the River Lot. The charming narrow streets filled with flowers run alongside rushing streams and open out onto pretty cobbled squares where there are cafés, a baker and a local shop.
The tourist office situated in a craft centre 'Ste Eulalie d'Art' offers full details and leaflets with local events and places of interest. The property owner, an artist with nearby boutique offers painted furniture courses (please ask for combined rate) and hand made jewelry courses are also available subject to availability.
Sainte Eulalie d'Olt
The tourist office located in the cloisters has a full list of the many summer activities available, these include nocturnal markets animated by a craft fair in the cloisters and free outdoor concerts. You can buy hot and cold prepared dishes and eat them at the tables specially provided by the mairie.
There is a tango festival and the 'transhumance' festival which marks the event of the cattle being led back up to the high mountain plateaux for the summer. The cows are decorated with bells and flowers and led through the streets. There is a music festival, art and photography exhibitions and many others.
Within an easy car journey are the Spectacular Tarn Gorges, the famous Viaduct at Millau, the Château of Giscard d'Estaing at Estaing, and many other fascinating places to visit.

Good basic Gite accommodation which we used as a base for touring the area. There are so many places to visit within an hour or so....our highlights were the Tarn Gorges, Lot valley, various caves and all the historical villages and towns along the way. The Millau viaduct is spectacular and can't be missed....the guided tour at the visitor centre is worth doing. The village of Eulalie D'Olt is very pretty...there is a small hotel next door to the house and a cafe as well. The owner has lived in the area for many years and can help with any questions.
