There is a good sized bedroom with king size bed and luxury soft furnishings, again nicely decorated and leading from that a luxury en suite bathroom . The luxury bathroom is fully tiled and has a bath,shower,w.c.,bidet and wash hand basin. It also has a heated towel rail so you can always have the luxury of dry warm towels Outside the gite opens onto a pretty covered terrace, with table and chairs, perfect for that romantic dinner or perhaps just somewhere nice to sit with a good book. The gite looks out across a courtyard over gardens and overlooks a lovely ornamental fishpond.
. For sun worshippers there are sun loungers and tables provided and for those who prefer to look out at the sun there is the shade of beautiful mature trees and the trumpet vine and wisteria draped over the terrace.
And,of course, there is the obligatory gas BBQ for when you really can't be bothered to walk to the restaurant.
For many the blissfully quiet surroundings will be an oppotunity to do nothing but relax and recharge the batteries. For others it will be the perfect opportunity for walking, cycling or horse riding in the surrounding countryside and enjoy the rich and varied wildlife - deer, red squirrels, kites, golden oriole, nightingales, nightjars, hoopoe,a miriad of butterflies and abundant wild flowers. The pretty village of St. Pompon is 10 mins. walk away and has all basic shops, two bars and an excellant restaurant. It is worth taking the time to sit in the square and do some serious people watching or saunter through the back lanes and soak in the ambiance. The village celebrates those long Saturday summer evenings with street parties - trestle tables and benches are provided, local food and wine sold at stalls, music played and dancing in the street - great fun!
Location description from owner
The Dordogne region
The Dordogne is part of the Aquitaine region in the south west of France and is famed for its wonderful wooded valleys, glorious rivers and more than 1000 fairy tale castles. The area is steeped in history with many delightful medieval town and villages. The bastide villages and the history of the hundred year war are of particular interest. Visitors come from all over the world to see cave paintings in the prehistory settlement at Les Eyzies and Lascaux and to visit the many other undergroung caverns and caves in the region. The Bergerac area is renowned for its wines as is Cahors in the neighbouring Lot.Both offer wine tastings and tours.Nearer to home the Domme vineyard is building a sound reputation for the qaulity of its wines. For foodies there is an endless choice of wonderful restaurants offering such regional fare as truffles, foie gras, duck, wallnuts, cassoulet, cepes and much more. The whole area is rich in arts and crafts with many interesting galleries and studios. For retail therapy the cities of Bergerac Brive Cahors and Perigueux are all within reach.
The picturesqe village of Daglan is five minutes away. Here you will find the Petit Paris one of the finest gourmet restaurants in the area.Eat outside in the square - very French
The romantic cliff side villages of Beynac and La Roque Gageac are within a few minutes drive as is the bastide town of Domme with its wonderful views over the Dordogne.
The historic town of Sarlat with countless restaurants and colourful street markets is just a ride away and the Sunday street market et St,Cyprien takes some beating for atmosphere
A visit to this region would not be complete without time on a river. This might paddling in the shallows or swimming to an island, picnicing on the banks, perhaps a boat trip from La Roque Gageac or better still floating down the river in a canoe. - its glorious Garden lovers are spoilt for choise, with the fantastic topiary gardens at du Manoir d'Eyrignac,at one end of the scale,to the lovely natural Jardins de l'Albrede at the other. The garden at Marqueyssac with its breathtaking views of the river and neighbouring chateaux is candlelit on Thursday evenings - Magical

- Very Good
“A pleasant retreat at the end of a hard day's holidaying”
On the edge of St Pompon this gite worked really well for us. The leafy green surrounds and the pretty floral garden beds were immediate relaxants every time we returned. The village has good markets (farmers/nocturnal) and is well situated to take advantage of all the Dordogne's delights. The cottage was very comfortable and well fitted for a pleasant stay.
“A perfect holiday home.....”
We had a wonderful 1 week stay in August 2012. The accommodation was superb. It was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable with all mod cons. The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and unobtrusive but very helpful when needed. The gite is a great home from home, ideal as a base from which to explore this interesting area. A car is a necessity. We are hoping to return to the area and would certainly have no hesitation in staying here again.
