Description from owner

Description

Location, location, location!!. Flat George is a ground floor maisonette in a Maltese residential area. This means it is not noisy and you can sleep at night. Unlike a lot of other properties advertised, shops are nearby (mini-market, butchers, post office, bank) and it is on main bus routes (to Mellieha beach, Gozo ferry and Valletta). Although car hire is nice, this is not essential. The seafront is only 200 meters away with a pleasant promenade. If you want noise and excitement, Bugibba is a 20 minute stroll away along the sea front (also on bus route) with restaurants and clubs.Flat George is fully equipped and has a large lounge / dining room., separate fitted kitchen and large twin bedroom (with en-suite bathroom). The dining room has a large sofa bed. There is a separate shower room. All rooms have fans and are cool in Summer

Location description from owner

The Island of Malta region

Malta is a bit like marmite - you either love it or hate it. The climate is excellent with over 300 sunny days per year. The people are lovely and both Maltese and English are the official languages. It is a very small island which is only 19 miles by 9 miles. Very much a small town environment where everyone knows everyone. Unlike in the UK, people are genuinely helpful. To give you an example, when my mother had a heart attack, the lady opposite said that she could convalesce at her flat as long as she needed to!!

Nice bathing on both rocky and sandy beaches. Malta is well know for water sport and you can easily go fishing or scuba diving. If you like history, there are quite a few tours which will show you a number of interesting museums and places ( e.g., the catacombs in Rabat, historical churches, the war museum in Valletta to name but a few). I can recommend the all day coach tour to Gozo which is well worth it.. Go to Ta Qali and see the Medina glass works and local handicrafts.

Walking and cycling are nice along the coastline but bear in mind that the weather tends to be hot. Don't expect a lot of countryside or gardens because a lot of Malta is quite built up.

St. Paul's Bay

Local buses operate from the bottom of the road to the capital Valetta, the ferry to Gozo and Mellieha. Mellieha is the nearest sandy beach (about 10 minutes away by car, 15 minutes by bus).

Min market, butchers, bank, post office, chemist and bars are about 100 - 200 metres from flat George
