Description

We believe San Sebastien is a very special place - and we think you will too.The main house has a fully-equipped kitchen and large living area, complete with wood-burning stove. For summer and beautiful sunny winter days there is a dining table outside on the terrace, with views over the valley, and a wooden table in the living room for cold festive evenings. The first double bedroom is on the ground floor, with a king-sized bed and traditional wooden beams. A large shower room is directly opposite. On the first floor there are two stunning double bedrooms. The first has an en-suite with two sinks and shower, queen-sized bed and views over the valley. The second bedroom has both a queen-sized bed and further single bed, and an en-suite with both bath and shower, perfect for families with a young child. Views stretch across the courtyard towards the pool from the shutters. There is also an office area.

The second floor is an 18th century addition to the house, build on top of the original fort roof, which is why you'll notice the floor is sloped. From the outside the original ramparts are visible in the brick work. There is a cinema area with large screen and a sofa that seats 6+, to keep children entertained after a day in the sun or to put your feet up in front of a movie. One double bedroom and one twin room share use of an en-suite shower room. The main house has a fully-equipped kitchen and large living area, complete with wood-burning stove. San Sebastien sits within ten acres of land. On one side the house looks over a valley and on the other, out to the ancient market town Foucalquier. The good sized swimming pool, sun loungers and picnic table are thirty metres from the terrace. An extremely rare black mulberry tree provides some shade.Court-yards around the house, that used to be home to live-stock now host a table-tennis table and a large fig tree, that is very fruitful in late summer (and perfectly matched with fresh goat's cheese from the neighbour's farm!).On the terraces below the house there is a vegetable patch where we grow fresh produce. We ask that guests do not take from the patch so we can look after our harvest. The house is surrounded by forest which is rich with truffles. If you are lucky our foragers will come during your stay with their dogs to find them.Interaction with GuestsThe house-keeper Francois lives on the land in The Berjerie, set away from the property. He is a font of local knowledge and can help with any questions during your stay.We are also on the end of a phone or email with recommendations and tips. The Neighbourhood of San Sebastien is an estate just outside of Saint Michel L'Observatoire, a small village in the heart of the Luberon region, in the South of France. Situated in the triangle between Marseille, Avignon and Aix en Provence, San Sebastien is in a region rich with food and culture.

Getting Around: While San Sebastien is certainly a secret, there are a number of stress-free options from the UK. While there is a summary here we are available to help with maps, time-tables and support with transfers on request.
