“Picture Perfect”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2015

We had a lovely week at La Chardiniere .It is in an absolutely beautiful setting. We extensively explored the surrounding area and it always terrific, after long days,to head back to "our" little cottage for some rest and relaxation.Karen and Robert are the most wonderful hosts, who made us feel like family.

Owner's reply: It was lovely sharing some evening chats with all of you, and hearing about your experiences in visiting war graves, and exploring walking trails in the area. Australia is a long way away, but if you do come to France in the future it would be great to meet up again. You were lovely guests. Merci!

“Lovely peaceful setting in the Normandy Countryside.”

My Girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay at Karen and Robs Gite. The grounds were perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful/romantic getaway and the Gite itself is a really well looked after building. We were greeted by Karen and Rob once we arrived who then showed us the Gite and let us know that if there was anything we needed or wanted to know, that we could ask. They were really good hosts, very friendly and we enjoyed a drink and a good chat with them by their ponds. We can definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to relax in a peaceful setting as the Village is pretty small and there isn't much noise at all. *The tripadvisor map doesn't show the Gite in the right place for some reason, its further north east than the marker. We did notice this a few days before we were going but Karen did give us good directions to get there*.

Owner's reply: We really enjoyed having you both, you were lots of fun and we appreciate very much the excellent condition in which you left the gite. Hope to see you again in the future.

“Charming gite in the charming village of St Michel de Montjoie”

We were just looking for a reasonably priced stop off point during our French road trip but the owners were so welcoming, helpful and friendly (we even had a drink with them in their lovely garden by the pond!) that we'll definitely be going back! This is the perfect place to get away from the stress of city life- quiet surroundings, beautiful scenery, but also lots of lovely quaint French towns and villages nearby to visit in addition to the usual jaunts of Bayeaux and the magical Mont St Michel.

“Stunning location and so relaxing!”

Reviewed 4 Jun 2014

I stayed in Le Pressoir with my hubby for a week in April. We needed a few days of relaxation after a stressful time at work and that's exactly what we got. The owners were a lovely welcoming couple who made us feel at ease. The location is beautiful and so French! There is a local boulangerie a short walk away, a cute little bar and lots of lovely walks. We visited Ville dieu which is a lovely town about 20 minutes away and the gorgeous mont st Michel. We will definitely be going back!

Great place to stay. Lovely gardens. Peaceful and quite but also good location to get to all the sites in Normandy DDay beaches,Bayeux tapestry, Mont St Michael

Owner's reply: It was lovely having you, we hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday in France, and hope to see you again.

“Beautiful gite in rural village location”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2013

Beautiful rustic gite in a peaceful location. Lovely views over fields from kitchen window and small veranda. Small kitchen, but had all the essentials - hob, oven, microwave, washing machine etc. . WiFi and Freeview TV available. Owners live in a nearby house - very friendly and helpful but not pushy. Not a huge amount to do locally (nearest beach about an hours drive) but a great relaxing getaway. We've not rented a gite before so nothing to compare it to, but definitely enjoyed our stay and seemed very good value.

Owner's reply: It was lovely meeting you, so glad you enjoyed your week here en route back home to the UK from the south of France. We´d love to have you again if you ever stop in the Normandy area again during your travels.

“Charming tranquility”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2012

I was delighted to find La Chardiniere after scouring the net to find the perfect place in the French countryside to write my thesis. I was after peace and quiet, beautiful views and some authentic Norman charm and La Chardiniere has that in spades. I have been here for 6 weeks and found that the gite is secluded enough to give me the peace and quiet to work with views of the cows grazing on the fields in the sunshine from my own private deck, yet close enough to local towns and villages for sociable breaks. The gite itself is situated in lovely grounds and I have been free to sit out and enjoy the sunshine in the gazebo overlooking the ponds. The local trails are perfect for walks, the occasional run and regular blackberry picking and there are plenty of interesting sights in the area to make a trip to St Michel de Montjoie and the environs a great break away in Normandy. My hosts have been extremely helpful in getting me settled and making sure I have everything I need. I thoroughly recommend the gite. 5 stars!

Owner's reply: We really enjoyed having you with us, so pleased you found our peaceful setting a good environment in which both to escape and write and to and explore. We strive for a balance between tranquility and easy access to both the countryside and the renowned Normandie attractions. We hope to see you again soon.

“Beautiful location and lovely gite”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2012

The gite has a lot of character and is set in the most beautiful gardens - a lovely atmosphere to stay in with a beautiful view over fields. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful.

Owner's reply: It is pleasure to have such wonderful guests, who come from a wide variety of places to experience the rich landscape and history of Normandie. To date we have welcomed people from England, Wales, Canada, Spain, France, and the United States, and we look forward to meeting many more from around the globe. Thank you to all our guests for your kind comments.

“Great Gite - Great Location”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2012

Set in rural France, in our hosts' beautiful garden with marvellous views, this gite is well appointed and very comfortable. Its a great place for exploring all that Normandy has to offer, such as the WWII landing beaches, museums, medieval castles and, of course, Mont St Michel. Thank you Karen and Robert for a lovely holiday, and we're certainly intending to come back.

Owner's reply: It is rewarding to hear that our guests manage to take in such varied and exciting attractions during their stay with us. From the Bayeux Tapestry depicting the Norman conquest to the parachute adorned St Marie Eglise and magical Mont St Michel, the list offers something for all ages and interests.

“A wonderful short stay”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2012

Friendly owners. Stunning garden. Really nice touches like fresh-cut flower arrangements throughout the cottage. Cottage very attractively restored. And wonderful views from the property.

Owner's reply: Perhaps you will return when you are able to stay longer and visit more of the surrounding area. We are very glad to hear that our one-bedroomed cottage which Robert has restored offers relaxed accommodation in traditional Norman style. We would love to see you again.
