Description

New for 2018, we are having an 8 x 4metre swimming pool installed which will be ready by the end of May.

Also new this year we are offering Netflix in the gite. On arrival we will give you a remote control (an iphone!) which you can use to navigate and choose whatever you want to watch on Netflix.

Gite Alba is a recently renovated 19th Century property set in the small village of St Etienne De Boulogne in the hills above Aubenas in the heart of the Ardeche. The accommodation comprises one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. The bathroom has a large shower and the kitchen is in an area to one side of the main living space. There is a wood burning stove for winter lets. The size of the gite is 48m2, with a terrace of a further 15m2, with outside table and chairs. The facilities available in the gite include Wi-Fi Internet access, Satellite TV (channels in German, English and of course French), Dishwasher, Microwave. Also available are a BBQ, washing machine by request (not actually in gite), Iron and Ironing Board (on request). A cot is also available if required

Directly from your doorstep there are a large number of tracks and footpaths that can be taken to explore the surrounding countryside, either on foot or by bicycle. There are various village fetes throughout the year with the main one being on the night of the 13th July (14th July is Bastille Day), where there is live music and tables are arranged outside the Mairie so that everyone can bring a picnic and come and enjoy the festivities together.

Within a 2 minute walk from the gite there is a small auberge, which serves meals from lunchtime till late, both menu du jour and a la carte. In Aubenas itself there are a large number of restaurants to choose from, to suit any budget.

There are swimming pools in Aubenas, Privas and Vals Les Bains, all within 30 minutes of the gite. Within this area there are also horse riding, mountain biking, walking and tennis. The river Ardeche also has many swimming spots.

There are many local markets and we provide you with a list of markets that take place on any given day, however the 2 main weekend ones are Aubenas on a Saturday morning and Vals Les Bains on a Sunday morning.

Should you wish to visit the famous vineyards of the Rhone Valley, the nearest are a mere 45 minutes away.

We are less than an hour from Vallon Pont D'Arc where you can spend a day canoeing down the river Ardeche through the famous Gorges De L'Ardeche, or you can visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Caverne du Pont D'Arc which is an exact replica of the Grotte Chauvet with its 35000 year old paintings.
