Description

Refurbished for 2018 Le Grenier is situated just south of Saumur. Beautiful private gardens. A range of free adult and childrens cycles including baby seat. Free WiFi . Perfect location for exploring the Châteaux. This isn't just any gite, it's your WOW factor Le Grenier gite!!!

Situated in a peaceful hamlet close to Doue-la-Fontaine and Montreuil-Bellay, and 20km from Saumur, this gite provides a perfect base for exploring the glorious Loire region.

The gite "Le Grenier" (the old grain store) is adjacent to the main farmhouse and comfortably sleeps 2 to 5 persons making it ideal for families, couples or small groups looking for a relaxing holiday.

This spacious gite is renovated to an extremely high standard whilst retaining period features. The fully fitted kitchen is well equipped and include a dishwasher, butler sink, halogen hob etc.

The downstairs Shower Room with WC incorporates a washing machine.

The huge lounge is double aspect and has a vaulted ceiling and log burner. It is equipped with a large flat screen TV with full range of English TV channels and English Radio channels, I Pod Docking Station, DVD Player etc. Free WiFi internet access also included. There is even a safe to ensure your valuables are totally protected.

The Master Bedroom with en suite is also very spacious and has a vaulted ceiling, exposed original beams and has windows facing to the front and rear of the property.

The property is set in a private walled garden with areas at the front and back for exclusive use by guests staying in Le Grenier, including a children's play area. Two sets of outdoor furniture allow a variety of places to relax or enjoy meals. Gas and charcoal BBQ's provided.

A full range of adult and children's cycles are provided including a baby seat. Plenty of things to do; Table Tennis, Basket Ball, Table Football, Swing Ball, Sandpit, Swing Set, Golf Putting etc etc.

Our two donkeys are always a source of interest for adults and children alike; just feed them your stale baguettes and you will have friends for life.

During complete weeks in July and August we offer the use of a 10ft inflatable pool; ideal for children; just let us know at the time of your booking and it can be ready for you on arrival.

Just ten minutes away is the Leisure Lake; what a gorgeous place to visit, walk round, try the activity circuit or play tennis; we can loan you the rackets and balls.

Just thirty minutes away is Pitch and Put; great fun and again, we can loan you the equipment.

Rest assured, this is not a gite complex; Le Grenier is the only gite and you are assured privacy and sole use of the facilities available. The British owners live on-site and are available if necessary but never invasive.

“Best Gite we have ever stayed in!”

Reviewed 30 May 2018

We have been to Le Grenier 6 years running, which speaks for itself! Superbly appointed, spacious & airy. Walled garden is a delight, lots of room to sit listening to all the birds. Bikes galore, a dedicated table tennis room, boules pitch, darts & table football, Samson & Zeus the two donkeys to consume any stale bread. The most genial and welcoming of hosts, Andrew, whose stock of jokes has been known to occasionally include new ones... We will be back next year!

“Back to a 'Gorgeous' Gite”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2017

This was our third holiday in Le Grenier and what a great two weeks we have had. Andrew and Jackie are fantastic hosts and would do anything to help/organise etc and make sure that everything is as you would wish. The icing on the cake for us, being a retired couple, were the morning cycle rides in the beautiful quiet French countryside and bringing our baguette back from the nearby village. To sum up 'perfect'.

“Lovely Gite in beautiful grounds”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2017

We stayed with our son and partner for two weeks from 29 July. A warm welcome from the owners Andrew & Jackie, who were on hand should we have any questions, but not intrusive. The gite was spotlessly clean, well equipped kitchen with a games room, table tennis, golf putting clubs, darts, toys & a swing - perfect for families. Beautiful gardens with two donkeys in the paddock to use up any left overs. Chateaux, pretty villages, vineyards & canoeing within easy reach. Supermarkets within 10 - 15 mins drive. A really lovely enjoyable holiday in a beautiful gite with friendly & helpful owners.

“Gite Heaven!”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2017

This was our 5th year at Le Grenier, our home from home, the most relaxing holiday environment you could wish for, spacious, quiet, easily the best gite we have ever stayed in, but we no longer sample any others! Many local attractions in easy reach and if you tire of lounging over leisurely meals in the sun there is table tennis, boules, even table football on hand, and Samson & Zeus, the donkeys, to recycle stale bread... Thanks once more to our friendly & welcoming hosts, Andrew & Jackie, and long may they continue at Le G.

“The perfect gite!”

Reviewed 27 May 2017

Our stay at Le Grenier couldn't have been better. It was our first "proper" holiday with our 10 month old baby and we all had a truly relaxing, memorable time. The house is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need, but retains real charm. Fabulous gardens were ideal for baby to crawl, and for the adults to relax or play badminton. Icing on the cake... the donkeys at the bottom of the garden! Couldn't recommend this place highly enough, especially with such friendly, helpful owners.

“Perfect holiday home”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2016

This was our second stay at Le Grenier and we are already planning our 3rd visit! Andrew and Jackie are wonderful hosts - attentive but never obtrusive. The house is beautifully maintained and very well equipped (although I would really appreciate a fly screen over the door!!). The lovely outdoor spaces are perfect for relaxing with a book & a glass of wine and the provision of covered parking is a very thoughtful bonus. The village is quiet and pretty, a great base for touring the local area.

“Another memorable stay in a wonderful gite owned by a lovely couple.”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2016

After staying at Le Grenier for one week in 2015 we booked in for a fortnight this year. We were not disappointed with a longer break at Le Grenier. Andrew and Jacky made every effort before our stay to ensure a few extra facilities were available for our 18 month old daughter (paddling pool, swing, clean sand pit toys, baby chair, travel cot). The gite was as comfortable and well furnished as we remembered while the information available in the gite was invaluable. The outside area is spacious and there are all manner of amenities for guests to use if the sun is shining (sun loungers, outside table and chairs both front and back, bicycles, badminton net, etc). Andrew and Jacky are often on hand for any local knowledge or advice that might be needed and the property is very close to a number of lovely sights in a beautiful area. Throw in a few vineyards in the immediate vicinity and Le Grenier comes close to perfection! All in all, another memorable stay in a wonderful gite owned by a lovely couple. What more could you want? Five stars!!

“Another fantastic stay at Le Grenier!”

Reviewed 19 May 2013

This was our third visit to Le Grenier in 3 years and yet again we were not disappointed. The gite is absolutely fantastic and certainly has the 'wow factor'. Since our last visit new lamps have been added to the lounge, an iPod docking station in the kitchen, new sun loungers for the gorgeous, private garden, a new gas barbecue and a new double quilt for the main bedroom. This constant attention to detail and focus on providing a real 'home away from home' is what makes Le Grenier so special. If you book a stay here you will not be disappointed by the standard on offer. This has to be one of the best gites on offer in the Loire valley. We're already looking forward to visiting again next year!

“Pure bliss - the place to excape to”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2012

Having stayed in many holiday cottages, this is definitely the one to benchmark all the others! Le Grenier is very well presented, is extremely well equipped and maintained to the highest standards The secret to this excellence is clearly the two donkeys that are ever-present and well supervised by Norman the cat who appears just like the proverbial Genie. The is also a guy called Andrew who was very welcoming and will always appear if you pop a cork! It was our first visit to the Loire region and there is so much to see we shall definitely be returning to continue our explorations. The only problem is that the gite is so relaxing its almost too much trouble to venture out, its perfect to relax in and well placed to explore a very interesting region, with lots of excellent restaurants and endless vineyards to sample. We would highly recommend a stay here.

“Fantastic gite in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

Le Grenier is a large gite in a very rural location surrounded by beautiful countryside, birds and wildlife. It's well equipped with plenty of space for the kids, with the added attraction of Samson and Zeus, plus of course the ever present Norman! There are a selection of bikes for the use of the guests, as well as space to play badminton, basketball, etc. The owner, Andrew (Jackie was away), was incredibly accommodating and a wonderful host and it was nice to share a drink two with him and chat about life in France. We would definitely recommend Le Grenier and look forward to returning next year!
