“Room for improvement”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2016

We were a group of adults and a 2yr old toddler staying for a week in April. The villa is in a good location for trips around the island and there was ample parking space on the street for our rental cars. 3 of the 4 bedrooms and the bedrooms were fine, although no-one really wanted to sleep downstairs, as there aren't any windows (not suitable if you're claustrophobic). The bathroom at the top of the villa is not in the same condition as the rest - could do with a new shower curtain and rug. The kitchen and living room were clean and maintained to a good standard. The dishwasher and washing machine were great and used regularly. The BBQ was located next to the kitchen, which was practical and again used a lot during our stay. There was only cutlery for 6 people, which meant we had to improvise the first night (using bread knives and plastic cutlery) until Jane could bring more the next day. This should have been checked beforehand. The only kettle is on the hob and it took ages to boil. Suggested an electric kettle to Jane, so hopefully future guests can benefit. Towels had been forgotten in the bedroom downstairs - again we had to ask and Jane brought more over, which she did as soon as possible. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the play / games room / it obviously hadn't been cleaned before our stay and our 2yr old got dust all down his back when he played on the slide. We showed Jane when she arrived and she said she would clean it personally. A good reaction, but again should have been clean in the first place. The outdoor pool area was clean, but quite worn out. We recommend a fresh lick of paint (as well as on the ceilings throughout the villa), new lifebuoy and new table - or at least a tablecloth to cover. Positive: the sun loungers were of a high standard and the area gets sun most of the day. The indoor pool area is fine when you get there, but the walk down (which involved having to leave the villa and go next door) to it wasn't - it was like walking through a building site. If possible a more direct route from the villa would be nice in future, or the walkway needs tidying up. Last but not least the communication with David and Jane was fine and all questions / issues were dealt with promptly. It's just a shame we had to ask for things which should have been there from the start. Otherwise our rating would have been higher, as the villa has enough potential.

“Great Villa Great Trip ”

I booked villa Sunnyside to organise my friends Hen party. Everything was so easy and smooth with the help of Jane and David. They were so helpful in explaining where everything was and organising taxis etc... The villa is beautiful, very spacious and has everything you need for your stay. I Was delighted with everything and I would definitely go back and I highly recommend this for all ages and all mix of groups!!

“Super!”

Me and my friends were from the beginning till the and of this trip very happy with our choise. We thank David and Jane for the good care!

“Great stay”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2014

Together with 8 friends I rented Villa Sunnyside for a week in July. Since I live in Malta I had the privilege of taking a visit to the property before making any decision. Since we were a little late with booking anything our options were limited but the place looked great and we decided to go for it. Everything was taken care of upon arrival and some small issues were resolved quickly after getting in touch with the owner or his assistant (extra sheets, internet disconnected). Apart from that, we didn't have any problems except for some issues with neighbours but that was pretty understandable as we had been rowdy for a number of nights into the early hours. Overall, I would definitely recommend this villa to any group or family that wants to have a relatively cheap stay (compared to hotel prices in high season) and have all needs readily available. The only disadvantage I could mention is that it is relatively far away from the places-to-be in Malta but renting a car here is pretty cheap so that is exactly what we did for the whole week (public transport is very stressful in midsummer as the buses are packed and the schedules are unreliable). We had an unforgettable week at this place and the only thing I wish to add is that some (minor) extra costs have to be paid which are the internet costs (5€/day) and the airconditioning unit (we spend 50€ for the whole week while using it pretty much unrestricted). The security deposit was €1000 which i think was reasonable given all the stuff that was inside the property (we got the full deposit back within 2 days). One other thing I'd like to mention was that the assistant got in touch with me after a few days to inform us that we were allowed to use the indoor pool that was just around the corner in addition to the outdoor pool, which is obviously a cool little extra.

“Fabbo Villa near St Julians”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2014

Villa Sunnyside is a perfect holiday place for a group of friends (10 or so) or couple of families with kids. The area is nice and quiet, distance from St Julians ok and even some shops and resto's just near by from walking distance. Own pool area, and dowstairs gym, disco and playroom makes sure there is something to do for everyone. The upstairs en suite bedroom worked really well with our groups honeymooners (photo enclosed). The "landlords" David and Jane where both very helpful and everthing requested was handled quick and easy. Extra thanks goes to our private driver Miguel who took us always when needed, where ever needed.

“Great for a family holiday”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2014

The place was perfect and easily accommodated for all 9 of us. David and Jane where always happy to answer any questions and questions. We didn't understand why we would have to pay for electricity and water if went over in saying that the usage was more then enough and that was for 9 people over 8 days. Getting too and from was hard without a car. Overall was a fantastic holiday house

“Had a brilliant stay in Villa Sunnyside easter 2014”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2014

The villa met our expectations as a big family of 11. All of us with an age from 6 to 70 had a good time at Villa Sunnyside. Activities for everyone through the pool, the playroom and a lot of space.

“Villa Sunnyside is below average. Malta is great. Maltese people are great.”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2013

Anyone interested in renting Villa Sunnyside needs to aware that it is not as nice as it may look in the photos. It has not been very well looked after and is really tired. Most importantly, the "fifth bedroom" is a sub-teranian dungeon with no external windows or fresh air. We were incredibly disappointed to find out that someone from our group was going to have to spend their time in such a horrible room. It was embarrassing. I would not recommend letting anyone sleep down there and I would advise to book this villa on the assumption that it only has four bedrooms. People booking this villa just need to aware of these issues, otherwise they will be very disappointed on arrival, as we were. Our last issue was that "Holiday Lettings Malta" expected us to pay for their banking fees for all payments. We made international bank transfers that incurred large fees for us and we accepted these as additional costs, but when HLM refunded our damage deposit, they deducted the cost of their bank fees! This was not agreed to or stated in the terms of the booking. Otherwise, Villa Sunnyside was fun place for us to stay with our friends, it is located in a quiet and safe suburb and bus stops are just around the corner heading north and south, although the Maltese bus system is unreliable. Dealing with Holiday Lettings Malta was difficult and disappointing. We feel that we got ripped off. Our recommendation would be to stay at a nice hotel in a main area somewhere. Friends of our stayed at La Meridian in St Julians which was a much better option. Car hire is cheap and a good option for getting around the island.

“Fab Villas, Fab Week, Fab Place!”

We stayed in villa sunnyside and the villa next door villa diamantina in our time in Malta last week. I can only say what a wonderful time we had and how wonderful the villas are, they are decorated to and extremely high standard and have everything ( apart from cleaning materials) that you would need! each room is spacious and airy and the air conditioning is top class clean towels were provided on arrival and bed linen only one thing would say is we could have been doing with a change of bed linen during the week as we had to wash all ourselves as well as the towels every day however there is a washing machine and various lines and with the sunny malta weather this wasnt a problem we had our fresh towels every evening after our day out shop about 10 minutes walk and has everything that you would need also buses 5 minute was and takes you all directions that you want to go great amenities in the villa ie pool table, air hockey table etc and chidrens play area which my sisters infant twins just loved!! we were not charged anything extra for water or electricty during the week which was very fair as we all showered daily and plenty of electrical goods were switched on our wedding day!! David and Jane the owners were very helpful and organised trips for us throughout our say big thanks to them all very much appreciated! Great place to stay, quiet but close to everything and nice for a family holiday as we had 25 people with us and everyone had a great time and we had a great wedding day Would highly recommend these villas to anyone travelling couldnt fault anything and we enjoyed every minute of it !
