La Chatouillette, pronounced ~ 'La- Chat-twee-ette'

The Coach House Gite and Carp Lake is set in an area of particular outstanding natural beauty. It is nestled in the Regional Natural Park in Normandy, surrounded by sweetcorn and wheat fields, pear and apple orchards, bubbling streams and rivers. All these qualities create a timeless ambiance fused with a slow pace of life, which the French seem to have adopted. It feels like England was in the late 60's. 'Next door Normandy' is closer than you think, just 1.20 minutes from Caen Ferry Port and 4.5hrs from Calais.

La Chatouillette is ideal for couples, friends and families, anglers,nature lovers, bird watching, cyclists,walkers and stargazers. The Coach House Gite and Lake is available for weekly bookings Saturday to Saturday or longer stays. If you need alternative days or shorter breaks, please email us with your request. Minimum stay three nights.

The detached Coach House sleeps up to 4 people.There's parking for two cars.

It has its own private stairs entrance that leads to a balcony with table and chairs and a view overlooking the lake, gardens and surrounding fields and forest. Perfect for morning sunshine and breakfast or evening sunset and sun downers. From the balcony, French doors lead into a bright,spacious,open plan room, which has a country home feel. This is divided up into three functional spaces, the lounge, dinning and a kitchen area.

The fully fitted kitchen is practical, with storage cupboards and a work area facing the dining area.There is a full size electric cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster, kettle and slow-cooker, utensils crockery, cutlery and glasses. Everything you might need for your self-catering holiday.

Tea-towels and Eco- friendly cleaning products are provided for the kitchen and bathroom.

The dinning area has a large round oak table with four chairs and cushions.

In the lounge there are cream leather sofas, one seats two and the other three, additionally there is an armchair with a footstool. The central focus is a teak fireplace and mirror. A large TV and DVD player with a small DVD library. On the bookcase you'll find a variety of magazines,novels,folders with tourist information local information,including cycling and walking maps. There is a selection of games,chess and cards. WI-Fi is available.

There are 2 large bedrooms. A double with memory foam mattress, rustic oak beams and a Juliet balcony with views over looking the front gardens,forest and fields.

The 2nd bedroom is a bright twin room. It has a skylight window and rustic oak beams. Both have ample storage space, mirrors, side tables and lamps. There is an additional foldout day bed for a child under 10 yrs. Please ask for further details, if required.

The bathroom has a shower cubicle,mats,hand-basin,mirror, glass shelves for your toiletries and towel rails.

The toilet is separate.

All bed linen and towels are provided. A second set is provided if you are booked for two weeks.

Underneath the coach house is a games room, equipped with pool table, bar football and darts,bats/balls. In the garden there is a table-tennis table and trampoline.

There is plenty of storage space for fishing tackle/bait and for bikes.

Outside just a few steps away from the lakes edge is a screened seating area with a table and chairs and BBQ.

The established private Carp Lake is for the exclusive use of our guests and can accommodate a maximum of 4 anglers with 2 rods each. There are numbered grassed swims around the lake provide enough room for bivvies and tackle. The lake is stocked with Carp averaging up to 20lbs and over, other fish in the lake are Perch, Roach and Tench and a resident Catfish weighing around 35lbs, who has tried many an accomplished fisherman's skills and still managed to get away.

You may enjoy the rural stillness,listening to the sound of Cuckoos, Woodpeckers and the bubbling river that you just want to stay put at

La Chatouillette and not go anywhere! Relaxing,fishing and strolling through the gardens,by the river and around the lake and in the woods, discovering the many hidden nooks to sit and rest. It's Ideal for nature observing, watching the swallows dipping on the lake for a drink and the flash of blue as the kingfishers fly by. If you are patient you may see wild boar and deer by the river.

If you do wish to explore Normandy our central location to the Manche, Orne and Calvados departments gives you the advantage of visiting villages/towns and tourist attractions a bit further afield, without having to drive long distances. Normandy has so much history and a variety of attractions for the whole family.

The Normandy WW1 landing beach, museums & monuments,The Bayeux Tapestry, Monet's Garden at Giverny Mont St.Michel,Suisse Normandy, the quiet and beautiful sandy beaches with a tidal pool near Jullouvillle are very interesting days out. What more do you want for a holiday?

We live in a house adjacent to the coach house gite and are available if you need us for advice. For Anglers we may come round to where you are fishing to check your equipment or to take a photo of your catch.
