“Fantastic location, great property, perfect hosts”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2016

This was the first time in the Dordogne with the family and some friends (4 adults and 5 x 4 and 5 year olds) and this was a great property to base to be located. Cycling on old disused railways, swimming in warm lakes edged with beautiful white sand (free as well, you'd never get this in the UK), walking amongst the vineyards, or lounging in or by the pool, there really is no excuse for being bored while staying here. St Emilion (15 mins drive) is a great place to visit, with options to sit around at one of the many eateries and people watch, or walk around the historic town and see the sights If you have smaller children you can learn a bit about St Emilion by doing the kids treasure hunt around the town. Eve and Francois were the perfect hosts and were able to guide us to activities and events that we might like or be interested in. The bedrooms are plenty big enough and very comfortable. The average temp during our stay was 36 - 38 so using the window shutters helped to keep the rooms relatively cool. The kitchen is as well equipped as you're likely to have at home. Outside there's a large charcoal BBQ and plenty of room to sit down and eat, and for the kids to play as well. The pool is close by, but far enough away to put your mind at ease if you have small children or children who can't swim well. Walking through the fruit orchard is a lovely way to get to the pool. The property is located in a tiny hamlet of only about 4 or 5 properties so it is very peaceful and with views in all directions of vineyards (as far as you can see). I highly recommend the property, Eve and Francois. Enjoy your stay

“Splendid house, friendly hosts”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2014

This home in a small town near St. Emilion is a perfect, luxurious escape into the beauty of the vineyard countryside. The house itself is lovely and walking through the orchard to the wonderful swimming pool was a daily pleasure. Daily markets are close by in several of the small towns and there are a few very good restaurants within a short drive. The hosts, Eve and Francois, are charming and generous and - happily - bilingual. We heartily recommend this little haven to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat and we hope to return soon.

“A Wine Lovers Paradise”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2014

Wonderfully situated amongst vineyards and Chateaux, this lovely old house has stunning views across a beautiful valley. Just 10minutes from the historic world heritage site of St. Emilion this is a great location for a quiet and totally relaxing break, with restaurants, supermarket and boulangerie a short drive away. The well designed accommodation offers excellent facilities and is spacious and full of light. The friendly and generous English speaking owners, who live next door, did everything possible to ensure that our holiday was a great success. We are certainly hoping to make a return visit.

“Lovely home with incredible views”

Reviewed 19 May 2013

Clean, comfortable, well positioned, great vineyard views, affordable, very accommodating and pleasant owners, lovely local walks, tranquil setting, well appointed and fitted kitchen. On the negative, some issues with the internet,at times,as the main source is in the owners house and a bit too far to service the rental house. Even though the house has 4 bedrooms, and should sleep eight comfortably, the beds are too narrow ( one of my party fell out of bed, as she turned over. ( 30 inch beds not the normal ! ) there is also not enough toilets on the bedroom floor for 7-8 adults. There were 7 adults for one toilet, although there is a second toilet on the ground floor. None of the bedrooms have a full ensuite bathroom. Helpful that all but one had a wash basin. House better suited for a party of 4.

Thank you for the review and suggestions: RE WIFI indeed there were problems and we have now managed to improve service. Re toilets, however, 2 separate toilets for 7-8 persons seems correct. We never advertised "en suite bathrooms" for every room just for one room. Nevertheless, 2 shower rooms and one bathroom with tub and 3 ensuite lavabos seem fairly generous for a holiday home. We have never had 8 adults who requested 8 individual beds. We usually have 2-3 couples in double beds. In fact the house is ideal for 2-3 couples plus 2-4 children.
