Location description from owner

The Brittany region

The secluded property is situated in the tranquil countryside of the Le Mont St Michel Bay conservation area in Brittany. It is within a short driving distance to all major tourist attractions, including the world famous Le Mont St Michel itself. Brittany is warmer and drier than the south of England, particularly in summer.

Some of the highest tides of the century are expected at Le Mont St Michel at the Spring Equinox on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of March 2015 and the 19th and 20th of April 2015, followed by the Autumn Equinox on the 29th and 30th of September 2015. This will be an unforgettable spectacle involving a difference of 14 metres between low tide and high tide.

Saint-Broladre

A wide range of activities are available, including walking, cycling, horseriding, boating, golf, fishing, parks, etc.

Our property is within a short drive of Le Mont St Michel which is a stunningly beautiful abbey and town. Known as the 'Jewel of Brittany' it is a favourite haunt for tourists.

Cancale - A small port town famous for its seafood restaurants.

Dinan - This is the best preserved medieval town in France. An ancient walled city situated above the river Rance it has many attractions including architecture, restaurants, bars and delightful shops.

Dol-de-Bretagne - A quaint historical market town with cobbled streets, cathedral, restaurants, bars, shops and an indoor swimming pool. There is a very large street market in Dol de Bretagne every Saturday throughout the year from 8am to 1.30pm. It also hosts 'Fete de la Musique' on the 20th of June 2015 with displays of traditional music and dancing in the centre of the town every Sunday between 4pm and 6pm. There is also a 'Festival Folklorique' on the 26th of July 2015. All of these events involve live Celtic music and wonderful, traditional costumes.

Mont Dol - A picturesque village set upon a hill with amazing panoramic views.

St Malo - This is probably the town where you will arrive by ferry. It is a stunning historic walled city with its own beaches, bars, restaurants and plenty of great shopping, including late night shopping.

Beaches - The coastline from the Bay of Mont St Michel to St Malo offers not only scenic clifftop walks but many beautiful sandy beaches, some of which are very suitable for children and others that offer watersports and opportunities for para-sailing and sand-yachting.

Reviewed 3 Jul 2015

We have just returned to Canada after an enjoyable stay at La Baudouinais. We stayed in a delightful stone cottage attached to a magnificent stone barn. The overall site is comprised of original stone farm architecture surrounded by fields and woods. We were close to Mont Saint Michel and St. Malo and not far from several good grocery stores. We walked along the coast around Pointe du Grouin and to a local creperie called Le Telegraphe which we highly recommend. Make sure your GPS is set for a peaceful stay in the French countryside.
