Location description from owner

The Midi-Pyrénées region

The Gers, with it's outstanding natural beauty and rural lifestyle, remains uncommercial and is the hidden secret of the south west.

With a weekly market happening in most of the local villages there is always opportunity to sample the cheeses, fresh pastries, and duck produce, such as foie gras, this region is renowned for.

Simorre with its medieval fortified church, and Auch with its impressive cathedral are just some of the nearby places you can visit. The pyrenees and small mountain villages of Arreau and St Lary Soulan are also great days out. For a more cultural theme there is always Toulouse with it's many museums, art galleries and music events. Or visit Marciac and the famous yearly Jazz festival. The route of the Le Tour De France usually passes nearby on it's way to, and from, the Pyrenees.
Sample the Donkey milk and soap at the nearby farm.......There's so much you can do......

With the warm summer temperatures of this region you can relax, enjoy the sunshine and just soak up the French way of life!

Saint-Blancard

The local village of St Blancard is only a five minute drive away and offers a shop, bar, restaurant, church, and Chateau. There is also a lake and base nautique, in which you can swim and hire canoes. With a sandy beach too, cafe and toilets, this is a great summer destination.
The larger town of Boulogne sur Gesse, 12 kms away, holds a weekly market and has several cafes, bars, supermarkets, cinema and outdoor swimming pool. There is also another lake which hosts a great firework display each summer.

“An Ideal place to take a break from the city life”

Reviewed 5 Apr 2013

We really enjoyed the peace and quite - a very pleasant gite. The owners were really helpful recommending days out. A real break from the city life and I would highly recommend going this time of year.

“All we expected, swimming, golf, lovely food and wines, excellent”

Reviewed 25 Mar 2013

On arrival we were pleased to see a typical French farmhouse. Our accommodation was just to the side of the main property. We stayed in June and we spent quite a lot of time swimming and canoeing in the nearby lake. Fishing is also popular there. We played golf at Masseube Golf Course approximately 15 minutes drive away; a demanding but beautiful golf course, which if you play once you would certainly play again. On market days Boulogne sur Gesse 15 minutes away gives you the opportunity buy fresh vegetables and bread. Auch 40 minutes away is a huge market and well worth a visit. St Blancard town is only 10 minutes away with The Chateau Bar being a good place for a coffee or bite to eat.
