Location description from owner
The Algarve region
The Algarve owns the most enviable climate in Europe and is a wonderful area to visit.
The Western Algarve being the most beautiful and unspoilt part of Southern Portugal.
Bursting with local colour and life the Algarve has gorgeous beaches framed by high orange sandstone cliffs, deep turquoise sea breaking onto pristine sand, beautiful coastal and inland flora such as palm trees, almond trees, olive trees, wild lavender and rosemary bushes growing in profusion. Sub-tropical agaves, orchids and rampant bouganvillea.
Inland is clothed in eucalytus and pine trees, offering a cool and refreshingly scented alternative to the beach.
Portugal is famous for its wine, port, seafood, olive oil, cheeses and honey.
In the Algarve you can taste the best simple fare of sizzling barbequed sardines served on a thick slice of fresh bread, an accompanying salad of local tomatoes, cheese and olives all washed down with the very best local wine or freshly squeezed juice.
The Algarve also has its own natural spring water supply at 'Monchique'.
A modern eclectic mix of the old and new, the Algarve has everything to offer from donkeys still ploughing the fields to state of the art water parks and golf resorts all within beautiful surroundings fringed by the most stunning and endlessly varied beaches in Europe.
Situated at the end of the land right on the Atlantic Ocean's door and named by the Romans Promontorium Sacrum, Sagres has always been referred to as 'The end of the World'.
it is easy to see why it earned this name perched at the far western end of Europe and set above the endless sea.
This friendly town has much to offer. Best of all it's incredible and varied beaches.
Historically the Fortaleza is where Henry the Navigator set up his sailing school. From here it is claimed Christopher Columbus and Vasco da Gama set sail to discover the unknown world. You can visit the fort for a few euros and admire the amazing views and ancient compass set into the stone floor.
Modern Sagres offers, bars, cafes, restaurants all to suit every taste, shops, a market, surf hire, scenic boat trips, a working port, supermarket, chemist and post office. You can hire windsurfers, Kayaks, bicycles, surfboards, be taken on incredible dolphin watching trips, scenic boat/fishing trips, go scuba diving, horse-riding, or simply relax and do nothing apart from enjoy the sunshine.

“Lovely house perfect location”
What a lovely comfortable house. We spent a week with our daughter and had a wonderful and relaxing time. The cottage is well positioned for beaches, bars and is a two minute drive from the intermarche. One improvement would be a fan in both bedrooms not just the main one, other than that it was perfect. Good cooker, TV, 2 nice bathrooms, comfortable sofa, nice seating area outside. We loved it. We were also shown the apartment which also looked very nice and if my wife and I go back on our own we would probably choose that one. We also met the owners who are very helpful and friendly. Great place!
Thanks Mike! Thanks too for the fan advice, it's gone onto my shopping list! We hope to see you down here again soon! Best wishes to you and the family, from Pip & Heath.
