Description

Superbly appointed detached house with three available bedrooms and two bathrooms set in quiet secluded gardens at the end of a private lane. The fabulous 28' kitchen dining room is incredibly well equipped and features a range style cooker, American style refrigerator with ice maker and lovely farmhouse table. A gorgeous conservatory is a wonderful spot for enjoying an evening tipple whilst watching the sun go down. We also have a spacious and cosy lounge with french doors opening onto the forecourt. There is a downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs there is a twin bedroom and two doubles; one of which has a good size en suite shower room. The newly appointed family bathroom has a lovely whirlpool bath with shower over, a toilet, a bidet and a double washbasin unit with lots of storage. All our furnishings are of superior quality. The Oaks is nestled among lovely protected mature trees, visited by many different birds and red squirrels. The garden faces south west and is ideal for enjoying

The garden faces south west and is ideal for enjoying a barbecue cooked on the pretty illuminated patio. Although only built in 2004, The Oaks has loads of character and is an ideal home from home for all who want to explore this lovely island, visit our beautiful beaches or simply relax.

There is an excellent golf course and access to the Island coastal path within a five minute walk. Ryde town center with its many bars and restaurants is a pleasant 10 to 15 minutes walk away. There is a bus stop with a frequent service at the end of the lane. Although a car is not essential we have plenty of parking space on our pretty graveled forecourt. Free wifi means your groceries can be ordered from your preferred supermarket, although it must be said that the many individual shops in the town warrant being explored.

The Isle of Wight region

A stunning diamond shaped jewel approximately five miles from the mainland the Isle of Wight measures 23 miles east to west and 13.5 miles from north to south. In recognition of its beauty, almost half the Islands's coast is designated as 'Heritage Coast' whilst nearly half of the Island is as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Having a backbone of chalk running from east to west with a highest point of 791ft a lot is which is managed by the National Trust, the Island is a haven for walkers and cyclists alike. We are blessed with an amazing array of beaches, from long sandy stretches to craggy little coves, something to suit every taste. English Heritage care for Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House. Both steeped in history and well worth a visit. There are many other historical places of considerable interest including the Roman Villa just outside the ancient town of Brading. Cowes is well known world wide for its sailing events, the most important being Cowes Week usually held in early August a sporting and social event with up to 1000 yachts racing. Also of note is the Round the Island race with nearly 2000 yachts held in mid June. The winding and narrow High Street of Cowes runs parallel to the shore an is a delightful and busy place to visit throughout the summer. Other favored towns for sailing are Yarmouth in the west of the island and Bembridge and Seaview in the east. The West of the Island is more rural with a natural beauty and many small villages dotted around. The south of the Island again is home to many pretty villages to numerous to mention and more stunning scenery. A large amount of these inland villages boast one or more excellent pubs where good home produced food can be enjoyed. Sandown and Shanklin both have beautiful beaches, whilst Ventnor the southern most town is built on a hill, again with a good beach is also worth a visit. The south west coast locally known as the 'back of the wight' is notorious for shipwrecks almost 300 are recorded, smuggling was rife. Blackgang Chine, a much loved Island theme park grew up around these tales. If you can tear yourself away from the beaches, the Island has so much to offer that many people return again and again to savor the slower pace of life that can be found here.

Ryde

Ryde is considered the gateway to the Island. It is the largest town, situated 7 miles from the capital Newport. The town has been a favourite holiday destination since the days when Queen Victoria purchased her much beloved Osborne House in East Cowes. Ryde is blessed with stunning beaches which are cleaned on a daily basis.

We have fashionable Union Street, wide and imposing with its Regency buildings, it is blessed with many bars, restaurants and shops. As well as being a transport hub Ryde Esplanade offers many attractions including bowling, ice skating, a swimming pool with retractable roof, a marina and playground. There is the elegant canoe lake, home to many swans and ducks; boats can be hired through out the summer months. From here you reach the lovely unspoiled Appley Park and beach with its distinctive gothic tower. A seawall leads to Puckpool Park, with its fortifications once used to protect the solent during warfare. A scattering of cafes/pubs provide sustenance for those taking the pleasant evening stroll through to Seaview. The sea is tidal in Ryde and can go out for a mile. We have the fourth longest pier in Britain. Just outside the town are many other attractions including the famous steam railway at Havenstreet. There are two riding stables on the towns outskirts along with a well equipped gym and squash courts. Ryde Golf Club must once again be mentioned. It is a lovely course and welcomes casual players. As said before it is very close to the Oaks. Walkers will find us very well located right by the Isle of Wight Coastal path, a 65 mile trail following a circular route around the island. We have a book of the route and you can always get the bus back home!
