Description from owner

Description

Rated by TripAdvisor in the top 14 glamping sites in the world, Kissing Gate is a luxury romantic escape, staying in lovingly restored vintage caravans and with a quirky cottage. Ruby, a 1964 Classic, is the bedroom caravan - glamorous and gorgeous, a romantic boudoir, complete with super-comfortable queen size bed. Award-winning Pearl is the lounging caravan, like a 1960s milk bar, with a booth style table and comfortable seating - a cheerful space to relax after a day exploring the region. A separate luxury shower/toilet/bathroom/kitchen cottage is for your exclusive use. Mains electricity and wifi makes for up-market 'camping.'

Kissing Gate, part of the Canopy Camping Escapes portfolio of glamping sites, nestles in a glade beside a pond with boat, deck and gorgeous rural views. Lie back in the outside bath admiring the stars, daydream in the Cape Cod chairs, toast marshmallows over the outdoor fire, wander the 7 acres of organic citrus/pipfruit orchards, feed the tame sheep - or cycle 10 minutes to Mapua seaside village with its award-winning restaurants, artisans, beaches. Or explore the wineries just behind Kissing Gate and the art studios, Great Taste Trail and country lanes. Abel Tasman National Park and Nelson are 30 minutes in either direction.

The property is peaceful and quiet with an abundance of birdlife; from tui in the kowhai to kereru, quail, and kingfisher. In summer, finches and skylarks abound. A humid night will bring the sound of frogs from the bush and flax-edged pond.

Kissing Gate is glamping with a touch of whimsy. A quaint and beautiful setting, intriguing sculptures, creative artifacts and romantic hints will delight guests. The actual 'kissing gate' (the entrance into the glade) sits underneath mistletoe beside heritage hydrangeas and curving paths. The convenient combination of quiet farm life and proximity to Mapua with its beaches, cafes, artisans, wineries and rural cycling makes for the best of all worlds - a highly unique campsite.

Check out Copper Gate (ultra modern 4 bdrm eco-savvy heritage art design), The Paris Suite (romantic studio with stunning views) or Corru Gate (3 bdrm rural chic cottage) which are also on the 7 acres.
