With so much to see and do and in such a great location, you won't be short of ideas for things to do during your stay here.

Living/dining room: carpeted living room with large L-shape sofa with seating for 6, footstool, traditional stone fireplace with log burning stove (logs provided), large coffee table, flat screen TV, DVD player, Wi-Fi access, radio and CD player and a good selection of books and games. Dining table with seating for 5 guests.

Kitchen: modern and fully equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, family toaster, electric oven and gas hob, cafetiere.

Utility Room: Washing machine and Tumble dryer. Door leading out to garden and patio area.

Master bedroom: carpeted double bedroom (4x6 ft bed), bed side tables, flat screen TV, dressing table with mirror and stool, large free standing mirror, chest of drawers, double wardrobe, hair-dryer and fabulous views to garden and towards the Derwent Valley.

Family Bathroom: bath, walk in shower, WC, wash hand basin and heated towel rail.

Under stair cupboard: iron, iron board, clothes airier, child stair gate, high chair, travel cot, vacuum cleaner.

Highlights are the incredible Hadrian's Wall, a 73 mile World Heritage Site, the Angel of the North, one of most viewed pieces of public art in the world, Durham Cathedral, a magnificent World Heritage Site, and The Sage Gateshead, a simply stunning building playing host to music from around the world.

Rowlands Gill

Not far from the cottage is NewcastleGateshead, packed full of Culture and entertainment from the Baltic centre for Contemporary art and the Sage theatre to the hustle and bustle of Eldon Square shopping centre, the Millennium tilting bridge and the fantastic night life.

Staying at The Barn you are ideally placed for visiting local tourist attractions such as Hadrian's Wall, Durham Cathedral, Beamish Museum and the Northumberland coastline. Staying at the Barn you will be entitled to receive a 25% off admission to Beamish Museum.

Set in a superb rural location, opposite the Gibside Estate, once home to the Bowes-Lyon family and an area where guests have the opportunity to see the magnificent ‘red kite’ birds of prey and a host of other wildlife, just minutes away from the cottage.There are also tennis courts close by and a leisure centre in Blaydon.

All this yet only minutes away from the famous MetroCentre, Newcastle's city nightlife, sport stadiums, cultural/music venues and the region's centres of commerce.

In July visit the International Gateshead Flower festival, a three day event featuring all that is good in the garden.

Check out the Metro Radio Arena , O2 acadamy and whats on on Tyneside web site's for info on upcoming events like the Mouth of the Tyne festival, a free music and entertainment festival over three days in early July. There is also lots on at the theatre Royal in Newcastle.

Also in July is the internationally famed Sunderland air show, a weekend of thrills with old and ultra modern aircraft including the red arrows.

For golf lovers everywhere, we are 10 minutes away from Whickham Golf Club and there are plenty of 9 & 18 hole golf courses, including Slaley Hall.
