Description

The Canal Barn at Upper Foxhangers Farm forms part of a courtyard of traditional farm buildings that are set in the confines of a Grade 2, 18c farmhouse that has been sympathetically converted to provide a lovely homely holiday cottage with a contemporary feel. The cottage is a converted barn and has airy rooms with open beams, log burner and en-suite facilities.

Upper Foxhangers Farm is located on the southern edge of the village of Rowde at the foot of the historic Caen Hill flight of locks and the accommodation has south facing views across the farm's dew pond and surrounding meadows. There is plenty of space for children to run around and explore.
The canal is an integral part of the farm and can be loacted through a gate from the field, the brightly coloured narrowboats pass by regularly on their way up and down the flight of locks. Just the place to relax and watch the moorhens, ducks and occasional swan fly in. Cycle the tow path to Bradford on Avon or Bath, stopping

“Charming, well-kept, friendly and comfortable”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2013

We had a great weekend break here, it's a lovely location right by the canal, perfect for walks (we were lucky with the autumn weather!) and nice pubs nearby with good food. The owners were very friendly, the rooms seemed very well looked after and we had everything we needed. Very cosy in the evening with the wood stove. Highly recommended!

“Archetypal English Holiday”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2013

We decided to hire the barn for a week away, and we were not disappointed. I took my wife and twelve year old son and my mum and sister came as well. What a lovely converted barn only two hours from home. The barn conversion is in excellent condition, spacious and provides all mod cons. It easily sleeps six, and could accomodate eight at a push. The location is superb - a hidden jewel in the Wiltshire countryside, a few yards from the Kennet and Avon Canal.

“The perfect getaway”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2013

Nice place. It had all what we need to have a week holiday, The kitchen was well equipped, and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. Best of all is the view and scenery. Devizes canal is just behind you and you can walk for miles on end by the canal watching those lovely long boats going through the locks.
