The Wiltshire region

PineTree is on the outskirts of Devizes, an old world west country market town, in the hamlet of Roundway. Devizes has supermarkets to make shopping easy and also great local butchers and craft shops to enjoy. The open market day is every thursday for cheeses, flowers, meats and fruit.

The Wansdyke comes close so you can go to Pewsey vale and hire a horse to ride along it. The Kennet and Avon canal is just down the road (with the famous Devizes Flight of 26 locks) so you can hire a barge and head off down to Bath or Pewsey Vale.

There is an endless list of very easy day trips to go on, to Bath or Salisbury, Stone Henge or Avebury, Longleat, Lacock or Bowood. There are shops to visit, sights to see, festivals to attend, tours to enjoy almost all year round. Pine Tree is surrounded by history, natural beauty, arts, sports and entertainment.

There are also many nearby schools - Marlborough, St Marys Calne, Dauntseys, Stoner - so it is a perfect place for a half term or weekend break.

Pine Tree lies just below Olivers Mount, an area of outstanding natural beauty and site of the civil war battle of Roundway Down. From Pine Tree you can go on wonderful walks over Olivers Mount, round the white horse which is cut into the hill, down to the hamlet of Roundway or on to Headington and the Ivy pub. Or you just stay in the Pine Tree garden, playing in the woods or lazing on the lawn, there are no neighbours in view, just woods with snow drops, then daffodils and the bluebells galore through the spring.
