“Lovely holiday”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2017

We have just returned from two weeks at Sharon and Steves lovely villa. Everything was just as described, the villa feels very homely, comfortable, and everything you could need is provided. When we weren't out at the beautiful Gulf beaches, we spent many hours on the lanai, cooling off from the gorgeous weather, and enjoying the peace and quiet. We had a really lovely, relaxing time, and will definitely return. Brenda and Ron James

“A comfortable retreat away from home”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2017

We have stayed at several properties in Rotonda West and this villa matches them all; in fact the setting overlooking the canal is the best we have experienced. We holiday in Florida every Spring - last year we had to settle on Cape Coral, which is a busy, noisy and overcrowded suburbia. We were delighted to be able to rent Sharon's villa this year and we enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next year! The whole process of enquiry, booking and taking up residence was problem free; Sharon and I corresponded by e-mail. Although there is an agent we did not need to trouble him bit contact details are clear. New patio furniture arrived during our stay and was suitably christened; the lanai area is perfect for relaxing with a chilled Sauvignon Blanc, while watching the local wildlife. We clocked up almost 50 species of bird around the villa together with mammals (raccoon, bobcat the highlights), reptiles and amphibians. My wife and I are birders so the location was perfect for us; we went to different reserves and state parks every day and the choice is endless provided you don't mind driving. We ate out several times during our stay and can recommend Howards, Landys and the Lock and Key in Englewood and the Fish Restaurant in Placida (but be prepared to wait in line at all the local restaurants at busy times). We never got round to eating at Farlowes this time but we know it is good. Plenty of branches of Publix in the area together with Walmart and Winn Dixie. We can recommend Total Wine in Sarasota (University Boulevard close to a massive new mall); the choice is phenomenal and the prices are excellent - actually cheaper than the supermarkets). Overall this villa was perfect for an active couple heading towards their 70s. It was clean, comfortable, well equipped and was clearly a family home as well as a rental villa. Moreover, it is probably cheaper than a hotel room, so is good value for money - and you can't eat breakfast by your own private pool at a hotel!

“A tranquil setting - great for nature lovers and golfers!”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2013

We chose to stay at Rotonda West because it is located on a nature preserve (great for me because I love wildlife watching!) with some good golf courses within easy reach (great for my partner, who loves to play golf!). And we are so glad that we chose this villa, it is in such a tranquil setting. It was like a 'home from home' for us as it had everything we needed, and more, to make our stay a comfortable one. We spent most of our time out in the lanai, enjoying the pool and relaxing on the loungers. We used the kitchen most nights to cook our evening meal, buying our groceries from the Publix supermarket, about a ten minutes drive away. The air conditioning and fans were quiet and worked very well. We also appreciated the ice and water dispenser on the outside of the fridge! Sharon was most helpful during the booking process and we were provided with a useful information pack beforehand. We visited some of the beaches recommended and agree that Englewood Beach had the best sunset! We visited Farlowes restaurant and I sampled the voodoo juice, which was an experience! We also visited Harpoon Harry's in Punta Gorda and would definitely recommend the Key Lime Pie! We would also recommend Babcock's Wilderness Adventures and the Myakka River State Park as two worthwhile excursions. Also, the Warm Mineral Springs at North Port (if it is still open - it was under threat of closure at the time of our visit). We both got our holiday fixes - my partner, his fill of golf and me, my wildlife watching! All in all, a great place to stay - we would definitely recommend and plan to return in the not too distant future!

“Beautiful villa in a wonderful location”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

Firstly the villa itself is superb: spacious, very clean and tidy, well appointed and would have been more than big enough for the maximum of 6 people. Modern appliances which all worked well, garage amply big enough for a full-size American car (we had a Chevrolet Impala), very effective (and quiet) air-con. Lovely pool and lanai, we spent quite a lot of time relaxing there with a book and a drink. It's located roughly two and a half hours drive from Orlando International airport though we actually drove across from the Atlantic coast a few days after arriving in Florida. I chose to ignore the last part of the route which my Tom Tom picked and came off I75 at the exit described in the written route details provided by the owner, and in fact having done this my Tom Tom chose exactly the route which they described. The location within Rotonda West was also excellent, the pool side of the villa faces south-west and in March was getting the sun from mid-morning all the way through to sun-set. The deed-controlled community itself is very pleasant, quiet and well maintained, very little street-lighting which for me was a plus as it made for dark skies: excellent for star-gazing. There is a shopping plaza within a few minutes drive with a Publix supermarket and liquor store, a few other shops and a petrol station, we did almost all of our shopping here. There's another Publix slightly further away in Placida and another a little further away again in North Port close to a large Wal*Mart, Ross, Bells outlet and others, plus Perkins, Applebees and Chillis. Port Charlotte is an easy drive if you want a larger mall. The main reason for coming to the Gulf Coast is of course the beaches. Englewood beach is roughly 15 minutes drive away and has ample parking and facilities, if you want something quieter then from there you can reach Stump Pass beach, Blind Pass Beach and a little further north is Manasota Beach. We particularly enjoyed these latter three, all have miles and miles of clean white and the Gulf Of Mexico on one side of the barrier and the quiet waters of Lemon Bay on the others. There's no shortage of boat and kayak hire and organised boat tours if that's what you want: we were happy to park, walk through the nature trails and then relax on the beach for a couple of hours before returning to the villa. We also ventured further north to Venice and on from there into Sarasota. There's plenty of local restaurants, but on this trip we didn't actually try any of them, that can wait until next time then :) Overall this was the most enjoyable and relaxing stay we've had in Florida. You'll definitely need a car as nothing is actually on your doorstep but by the same token nothing is more than a short drive away and I'd gladly exchange the extra cost of a rental on the coast for a short drive to this fabulous villa in a lovely inland location. Highyl recommended then, and a special mention to Steve and Sharon Eagle for being very helpful and obliging as we made the booking.

“Home from home”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2013

The villa is well located for shops, golf courses, restaurants, beaches and entertainment. We enjoyed our stay at the villa,it was very comfortable and probably one of the best furnished, cleanest and tidiest rental we have stayed in over the years in Rotonda. It was nice to find some packets and jars of food left in the kitchen cupboards as our previous rental removed everything even the salt and pepper. A pleasant quiet location perfect for sunbathing during the day and watching the beautiful Florida sunset in the evening.

“Very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable in lovely, quiet area.”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2013

Lovely villa in a quiet area looking onto one of the local canals with great wildlife and close to five golf courses. Not far from the beautiful quiet beaches at Englewood where you are spoilt for choice of boat hire and cruises and plenty of excellent local retaurants with good food to suit any budget. Closer than you think to Port Charlotte with its shopping mall and historic harbour area and local State parks.
