Get away from it all at this detached rural cottage with cosy fireside and accommodation for six people. Crab Cottage is ideally situated close to Rosscarbery between Mill Cove and Glandore in the heart of West Cork, one of the most magical and tranquil parts of Ireland. The cottage is in a rural location, high above the Roury River valley affording magnificent panoramic views. You can see the sea, Galley Head lighthouse, Long Strand and Mill Cove slipway, the river valley, Coppinger's Court and distant Dunmanway Mountains. There is a small shingle beach 7 minutes walk away. Rosscarbery is the nearest town and is situated 7 minutes away by car to the east. Other places within easy reach include Glandore, Clonakilty and Skibbereen. We have produced a very comprehensive free guide to the local area 'The Not-So-Rough Guide to West Cork' which we update regularly and is available from our website or on request. The guide is based on our own extensive experience and covers all sorts of activities available locally from eating out and food shopping to fishing, whale watching, walking, places to visit etc etc

“Superb.......”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2017

The location is fantastic.. The scenery the cottage is located in is very tranquil and beautiful.... The cottage its self is extremely well kept and had all the facilities needed for an extremely enjoyable and relaxing break... Would definitely recommend.....

“Wonderful second visit!”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2016

We stayed at Crab cottage three years ago and vowed we would come back as we loved it so much. We were not disappointed on our second visit. The cottage was as well equipped, comfortable and clean as we remembered. Luckily we had a week of really great weather, so we were able to really enjoy the outdoor areas and had many a game in the garden. We explored some new areas around Cork, but still found time to do lots of walking around the cottage and crabbing at Mill Cove (find the pier at the far side if you can), we caught 38 crabs in one 90 minute session and our small boys were absolutely ecstatic! Crab cottage has everything a family needs for a great break away in one of my favourite parts of the world, and we will be back again. In fact I really didn't want to come home!

“The perfect west Ireland retreat”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2016

Fantastic cottage for a get away from it all holiday. Very well equipped, quality soft furnishing and white goods - very much a home from home where you can relax in solitude. Very remote but enjoyed this can highly recommend to those who enjoy peace and tranquility.

“Hidden jewel in the pride of Ireland”

Reviewed 2 May 2014

Crab Cottage is my dream hideaway. Just a short drive from the village of Rosscarbery it is a stone's throw from an inlet beach but a million miles from the hustle and bustle of real life. Cottage is a little bit of a white lie - a beautifully restored and extended home with three ample bedrooms and a wonderful living room kitchen space that gave us four plenty of room. The facilities are way above what you expect and it adds a touch of luxury. West Cork is beautiful, untouched and pristine. GO!

“A wonderfull relaxing break”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2011

We stayed at Crab Cottage in September 2010. The house is perched high up overlooking an unspoilt valley with great views all around, including of the sea. Although secluded, the house is surprisingly near to the village of Rosscarbery although the roads are pretty narrow and bumpy! Inside, Crab Cottage is very clean, comfortable, well decorated and really well equipped – a welcome change from our other Ireland experiences. When deciding where to go / what to see & do, we just followed the owners’ own tips (the “Not so rough guide”) which we downloaded from their own website – really brilliant! We had a lovely week plus no rain at all! Would recommend.
