“A lovely apartment - comfortable and well equipped in a great location with a stunning sea view”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2016

This is a lovely apartment, part of a fairly large but pleasant and very tastefully designed and landscaped complex with mostly French families - either the owners of holiday homes or renters. The apartment is on the second floor with a large balcony overlooking the complex pool and with stunning sea views. We ate all our meals on the balcony and enjoyed watching the world go by. There are two bedrooms plus a mezzanine with a further double bed, bathroom and separate toilet and a well equipped compact kitchenette in the comfortable living area (sofa, arm chair, table and chairs, small TV). There is a further table and chairs on the balcony with ample drying facilities. There's also beach equipment you can use in the apartment - mats, umbrellas, beach tennis bats and balls, a small body board, buckets and spades for younger children and a beach chair. It is only a short walk (say 5 mins) to La Galliarde beach via an underpass so you don't need to cross the quite busy road. The beach is lovely - there are two beach cafes (one rather grander than the other - and doubling as a night club at night - so some noise from that). Pedalos, canoes and paddle boards can be hired as well as sun loungers (by the day and half day). The beach is popular but not unpleasantly crowded; you can always find a space and also has pretty rocks and trees at the end. It seems to be the best beach between St Aygulf and Issambres if not beyond. Our teenagers (15 and 16) greatly enjoyed their stay here. As well as the beach and the pool (and also the Tennis courts for the complex - rackets and balls are provided in the apartment and courts can be easily reserved ). Aqualand is near by and a good day out and if you are feeling generous you can treat them to parascending at Frejus or St Maxime as well as go-carting. There's a small convenience store near the beach (not too pricey and good for basics and daily bread) and an amazing hypermarket (Geant) just outside Frejus and beyond Aqualand. THe coastal road gets very busy in August so if you want to go further afield, you'll either need to get up pretty early or go more out of season. We took a boat trip from St Raphael (which is a really lovely French seaside resort) to get to St Tropez which we greatly enjoyed (and thus dodged the traffic jams).

Owner's reply: Thank you for a very comprehensive review. We are so pleased that you, and your family, enjoyed your stay at the apartment. This is our aim. I am a little disappointed that the night club caused some noise as there have been extensive requests and controls put on the owners to curb the noise, it was our belief that the club was only open Fridays and Saturdays but we will investigate this further. As you rightly say; many of the apartments are used by owners and there is a very strong 'domaine' community which carries quite a lot of clout locally. Once again, thank you for the review and we hope to see you again soon. Mike B-T
