About Rome:

Rome hardly needs an introduction. All roads lead here, after all. As legend has it, the city was built by Romulus, twin brother of Remus, two boys abandoned amongst the seven hills and raised by a shewolf. You won’t find a city anywhere else in the world where ancient history mixes with modern life (all you have to do is look at the bars and grocery shops housed in 15th century palazzos to know that). So see some of the sights and then make like a local and enjoy a glass of wine on a glorious city piazza in the shade of a fountain designed by master sculptor Bernini.

Did you know?

- The word “palace” comes from Rome’s Palatine Hill. This is where, starting with Emperor Augustus, all emperors built their “palazzos”.

- If you throw a coin in the Trevi fountain, it means you will return to Rome someday! As a result, about 3,000 Euros a day are collected from the bottom of the fountain and donated to charity.

- The ancient Romans invented concrete, which is why there are so many buildings still standing after thousands of years. The Pantheon is the largest unsupported concrete dome in the world.
