The Lazio region
Apart from Rome, the rest of the territory of Lazio is mostly plain and hills, with some mountains in the area of Rieti such as Monte Terminillo (2213 m), and in the north an area of low mountains of volcanic origin, in whose craters many beautiful lakes originated.
More than half of the population of the region live in or around Rome
This apartment is located in a residential area right between Piazza San Pietro and San Pietro train station. Vatican City and all its attractions (Basilica di San Pietro, Musei Vaticani, Via della Conciliazione, the Necropolis, and many more) is only a short walk from the apartment. Only a few steps further you will Piazza del Risorgimento, where Via Cola di Rienzo begins, one of the most acclaimed and bustling shopping streets in Rome, leading east, right up to Piazza del Popolo. As for public transport, the stop of bus line 64 is only metres away from the apartment. This bus takes you right across the city: Over the Tiber, down Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and through the historic centre, past Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona, and Largo Argentina to Piazza Venezia, and finally up Via Nazionale all the way to Termini central railway station.
More public transport can be found on Piazza del Risorgimento, through which countless bus lines run. Alternatively, at only a stone's throw from there, you will find the Line A metro station “Ottaviano-San Pietro”, from which the famous Piazza di Spagna is only 3 metro-stops away. From the metro station “Spagna” you can easily access the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Campo de' Fiori, Piazza del Popolo and Villa Borghese.

This was a perfect base from which to explore Rome and being within walking distance from the Vatican at Easter was a real treat. The apartment was just the right size for me and my 2 adult daughters to stay in and was extremely comfortable and clean. It was delightful at night time to simply sit on the balcony sipping a bottle of wine looking out at St Peter's. The owner couldnt do enough to assist us during our stay even recommending the best places to eat. The restaurants were within walking distance and were all used by the local residents and certainly worth visiting. When I return to Rome whether with family or friends I would most definitely stay here again.

"Fabulous apartment in a wonderful location overlooking the Vatican"
I first have to say that the photographs of the apartment DO NOT do it justice - how can you beat having a coffee on the balcony looking at the Vatican!!! The rooms were beautifully clean and exceptionally comfortable - but the best bit was that the owner lives right next door and is there to assist with anything you might need - Salvatore booked the cars for our transport to and from the airport and advised us for our journey to Ostia Antica. The apartment is within walking distance (if you are quite fit) of Romes top sites and piazzas, but if you don't fancy the walk, the No 64 bus stops right outide and will take you into the heart of the attractions. Just up the road, there is a very well stocked supermarket (5 minutes away), and you are never more than a couple of minutes from a restaurant or a fabulous cup of Italian coffee. A super holiday in a great apartment - highly recommended to one and all.
