The Lazio region

Lazio, also referred to Latium, is one of 20 regions in Italy. It encompasses the provinces of Frosinone, Latina, Rieti, Roma, and Viterbo. Lazio was once home to the Etruscan and Latin peoples which eventually evolved into the Romans. Lazio was part of the Papal States, the territory held by the Vatican until the 1860's. The capital of the Lazio region is Rome which is also the capital of the Italian republic. Rome did not join the united Italy until 1870.

“Perfect apartment in a perfect location!”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2015

We had an excellent 6 week stay in Silvia's flat. She responded to any concerns immediately and was great in offering advice for the area. The flat was located just outside of the area of throngs of tourists so we could be part of the true local scene. The buses to Piazza Navonna, Venezia and Trastevere were just around the corner and the metro was a 1 km walk. We often walked to the Historic centre or Trastevere and took the bus back almost to our doorstep. The apartment is a full one bedroom suite with a nice terrace where we enjoyed our breakfast and happy hour daily until early November when it got a bit to cold. The washroom was very functional with a large shower and even a washing machine that we used. The kitchen was a bit small but we moved the microwave temporarily while we were there and then it worked well. There is a Supermarket very close on the next street, many restaurants and also the Trionfale Market, a fresh pasta store, a bakery, hot take out food, basicly everything that you might need within walking distance. We would stay here again the next time in Rome!

Owner's reply: Thank you Eva for the excellent review you made, I'll do my best to deserve it. And thank you for being my guests, it was a pleasure to host. Hoping to see you soon back in Rome

“Brilliant”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2015

my husband and I had a great time in rome, this was made even better with the rental of this lovely apartment. It is an ideal base for sightseeing, just 10-15 mins walk to St. Peter's basilica and Vatican. The metro is 5-10 mins walk which is great for getting out and about to see the spectacular sights around rome. The colosseum is about 10 mins on the metro. The apartment is located in an ideal area which means that after a day's sightseeing among the hustle and bustle of the city you can retreat and relax in the quiet comfort of this apartment. The little seating area outside is a little suntrap and was lovely to sit down and unwind with a glass of wine. Silvia, the owner was very helpful and answered any questions with a speedy response. Silvia also recommended a little pizzeria/restaurant which was just around the corner and the food was great, you were right Silvia, it is the best pizza I have ever had.For anyone thinking of booking this apartment you will not be disappointed. Look forward to booking my next trip

“A wonderful gem of an apartment in the heart of Prati”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2014

We stayed for 4 weeks looking for a base to get to know Rome better and we found the perfect one in Silvia's apartment in Prati. The apartment was clean, nicely furnished and Silvia left us plenty bedding, towels etc for our stay. The little terrace was a bonus and perfect for eating out. Transport links to the centre are very good, a small bus terminus at the end of the street and a metro station 10 minutes walk away. There is a small supermarket on the street and a farmer's market nearby has wonderful fresh food for sale. There are also good restaurants around. We were very happy to stay there.

Owner's reply: Thank you Judy ! I'll do my best to deverse your review. See you soon back in Rome

“Feel Roman and at home!”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2014

Spotlessly clean, well appointed, very quiet and warm as toast in winter, with a very comfortable bed. In a safe residential area with small shops, cafes, restaurants around every corner. There's a bus station on the doorstep and the metro a few minutes away as well as well as a wonderful fruit and veg market and a flower market. It's perfectly possible to walk past the Vatican, down to the Tiber, over a bridge and into the Centro Storico - Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Campo di Fiori, Forum, Palatine, Colosseum all right there. Though, at 70, I'd catch the bus back! Live like a local, with all the tourist stuff close by!

Owner's reply: Thank you Carol for your review ! I hope to see you soon back in Rome, Silvia

“Great location, superb transport links, excellent host. Fabulous aparment”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2014

My second stay at this apartment and I would happily stay again and again. The service from Silvia as always first class. Prompt responses to questions also excellent pre travel suggestions for visiting some exhibitions which would be on during the dates of our stay. Thank you once again Silvia for your kind hospitality and friendly advice. The apartment is easy to get to from the airport by public transport and the small bus station at the end of the street where apartment is located means you can soon be in the historical centre, Trastevere, or the Vatican. There is a metro station about a 10 min walk and the Vatican can be reached on foot in about 15 mins. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a five min walk of the apartment and also a 24 hour supermarket. The area is quiet and safe and everyone we met was helpful and friendly. The apartment is clean and spacious and very well equipped plenty of cutlery and crockery. There was soap, washing up liquid, toilet roll, kitchen roll and tea towels. there is even a safe for your papers and valuables. Plenty of wardrobe space and hangers, really comfy bed and a little inner courtyard . Also has Wi-Fi .This apartment is a delight

Owner's reply: Thank you Julia for your excellent review, I'll do my best to deserve it. It was a pleasure to have you as a guest, and I hope to see you soon back in Rome, Silvia

“nice, clean, cool, quiet appartment”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2014

On arrival we were met between the metrostation and the appartment. Everything in the appartment was ready, working and with clear instructions. The extra bed (as we stayed there with 3 persons) was made and just as comfortable as the normal bed. The kitchen has everything you need, but we didn't use it much as we were only for 5 nights in Rome. We enjoyed having breakfast in the small space outside. The appartment was in a very quiet environment. Even more so (I think) because it was in the last days of august that we were there. The metrostation is nearby and the busstation even closer.

Owner's reply: Hello Mieke, thank you so much for coming and for reviewing your stay ! I hope to have you soon as my guest in Rome, kind regards, Silvia

“Spacious, well-equipped apartment in excellent location.”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2013

This apartment is excellent value in Rome. About twenty minute walk to the Vatican with lots of shopping and restaurants in between. Ten minutes from Metro. Well equipped galley kitchen, large living/dining area, bedroom, modern bathroom and patio. Silvia, the owner, was very helpful and prompt with our booking process. She met us on arrival, gave us good suggestions for our visit, and provided some handy staples in the kitchen. She also arranged a taxi for us when we left for the airport.

Owner's reply: Hello Don, "grazie mille" for your review, I will do my best as always, for my guests. Best wishes, Silvia

“Great little apartment in a perfect location”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2013

We stayed in Silvia's apartment for 4 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The location is quiet but very near the bus terminal where we could get buses to most places we wanted to visit with the metro station a 10 minute walk away. The apartment was clean and Silvia left us plenty of bedding, towels etc for our stay. I marked the kitchen down only because it was very small and difficult to prepare a meal there but for those staying for a shorter period and mostly eating out it would not be a problem as everything you need is there. Silvia is very knowledgeable about Rome and is willing to pass on any tips and information. A very good hostess!

Owner's reply: Thank you Judy for your review ! best wishes, Silvia

“A perfect base for a visit to see the sites of Rome”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2013

The apartment was very clean and tidy. The bedroom had air conditioning which was very useful as it was very hot during our stay. The apartment was within a hundred metres of a bus terminal which gave very good access to all the sites we wanted to see. We had use of a laptop in the apartment which, again was very useful to check bus routes and any other information in regard to the sites we wanted to see. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
