Location description from owner

The Caithness and Sutherland region

Situated 60 miles north of Inverness the parish of Rogart was once peopled by Picts and Vikings who have left behind many archaeological remains. Now small farms or crofts form a way of life that has existed for generations. The long sandy beaches on our doorstep soon give way to the wilder dramatic landscapes to the West. In one and a half hours you can reach Inverness to the south, John o Groats to the North or the West coast. Wild life is an important feature of life here. With many lochs and famous salmon rivers, fishing is a popular pastime. The bird life, whether it is osprey, eagle, hen harrier or migrating seabirds which flock to Loch Fleet, makes it a birdwatchers paradise. The sandy beaches of the North Highlands are world famous, whether Dornoch close by or an afternoon out to Achmelvich beach. Golf courses abound as well as pony trekking, mountain biking and shooting. But far from the hustle and bustle of modern life, this is an easy place in which to unwind.

“Picturesque!”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2013

We had a fantastic stay in the Highland Glen Lodges! Upon arrival, we were greeted very warmly by Adrian and Trude. The lodge was clean, basics were stocked, and the view from the front room was spectacular. I was impressed with the kitchen, it had everything we needed for our stay. Before our trip, Trude emailed an extensive list of things we could do on our drive up (I had emailed her for a few ideas, but got a whole list back). While there, she was also kind enough to print out some more places for us to visit with the kids. The kids LOVED being there! There was a little play area for them, the animals around entertained them, the extensive dvd collection was a treat in the evening. There were also laundry facilities available with detergent, very useful with young children. We were very well looked after and had a fabulous time there!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review for your stay at our lodges. It is really nice to hear that you had such a good time and do hope you will be able to visit us again soon. Kind regards Adrian & Trude

“Great accommodation and location.”

We stayed at Highland Glen Lodges for four nights over Easter school holidays. The lodge was very comfortable and had everything we could have needed. The views from the lodge are spectacular, with lots of birds and wildlife (especially wild goats) to look out for. The surrounding area is very beautiful, lots to see and do - with enough beaches and woodland to keep a five-year-old and dog very happy.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for placing a review, we really appreciate the feedback from our guests and look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind regards Adrian & Trude

Very nice lodge in spotless order; friendly owners on site to welcome us and what a view from the lounge

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your review, it really does help us realise what is important to our guests and that position is something that can not be taken away. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Adrian & Trude

“Quaint wee Lodge, and What a View!!!”

Reviewed 7 Apr 2013

The lodges are very clean and are equipped with everything you will need from home. You won't need the TV as the panoramic view of the Rogart valley outside the French window is so beautiful and therapeutic. The lodges were nice and cosy, the bedrooms even had electric blankets to take the chill off the scottish air. There is a dog exercising area outside and your own parking space. All the locals are very friendly and the Pittentrail Inn serves good, hearty pub grub. The Landlord also stocks a fine wee selection of Malt whisky's and the bar is dog friendly too. A very peaceful place....we will be back.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for placing a review and we do agree the view from the lounge is spectacular. We really appreciate feedback from our guests and look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind regards Adrian & Trude
