Location description from owner

The England region

The Mendips are an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ with many walks available.Somerset is England’s farm, an agricultural region known for its Cheddar cheese and cider. It receives fewer visitors than its westerly neighbours, and there are hidden delights to be found in this area. The area is perfect for cycling with a network of country lanes and fewer slopes than the more rugged west.

“A comfortable, well-appointed and tranquil haven.”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2013

Stokewood Barn is well situated at the end of a winding country lane - no passing traffic. There are delightful views to the woodland behind and the fields in front. The host and her family are helpful and welcoming. The barn - all on one level is spacious and attractively decorated without those twee touches which one so often finds. The iron and ironing board were much appreciated after a vista to the laundromat in Wells. Walks in the Woods and laneways were delightful and the birds a joy. The wi fi was much appreciated.

“Everything you could want from a cottage getaway!”

Reviewed 9 Jan 2013

Providing a pleasant and straight-forwards journey through the countryside, this barn is the perfect place for a 2-person vacation. The surroundings are full of various walks, runs, cycles and activities such as clay pigeon shooting are only a short drive away. The accommodation is top-notch, they provide milk, dish-washing tablets, toiletries, unlimited fuel for the log-burner and even had the electric blanket for the bed switched on when we arrived. It was all these small touches that helped to make it the great experience that it was. (By the way, the TV is newer than the one in the photo).
