The house is built on 4 levels. The ground floor is mainly for storage, with the bedrooms on the first floor. Two bedrooms have double beds and the third, a single bed. The modern bathroom with bath, shower and separate toilet is on this floor. The floor above has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer and washing machine and a large light filled, open plan living/dining area which opens out onto a small terrace with magnificent views over the valley and mountains. On the the mezzanine floor above is an extra room with the back door opening onto the alleyway behind. The house is equipped for 4 people but as the floors are linked with spiral staircases, it is not suitable for very young children. The old streets are very narrow, so it is not possible to drive the car right up to the house, but there is plenty of parking spaces a short distance away.

Further Details.

Rodes.

Rodes is a typical Catalan village, situated almost midway between the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees mountains. It is south-facing, and in one of the sunniest areas of France, so in summer enjoys the sun all day. There is a small shop for daily needs, a church, tennis courts, a children's playground and a boules area. There is a stunning gorge just behind the village and a ruined castle on the hilltop, so there is no need to leave the village to enjoy pleasant, stimulating walks, although there is plenty to do in the historic and beautiful Languedoc-Roussillon area.

As well as many others, within easy reach are:-

Vinca, 3 kms away, has a lake and a man-made beach for swimming and relaxing during the summer and the Mediterranean sea is not far away.

Villefranche de Conflent, is a medieval walled town, from which the famous “Little Yellow Train” winds its way through spectacular scenery into the high Pyrenean peaks. Also here, are some wonderful cave systems to explore.

St Martin de Cuxa and St Martin de Canigou are both old abbeys, perched on hillsides, with beautiful views and walks in the surrounding countryside.

Prades, with it renowned Pablo Casals music festival during August.

There are many thermal springs, with St Thomas les Bain being the most well known.

Towns on the coast, such as Collioure, where the mountains meet the sea are very popular destinations, or Ceret in Tech valley, known for its role in art history, are a short car ride away.

Not forgetting of course, innumerable small villages, many with summer festivals and the walking trails in the mountains and coastal plains to simply explore and enjoy.
