"Modern, Well Appointed Getaway Lodge"
We are always looking for a secluded lodge style accommodation to base out annual UK holiday from. Sweetslade fits this description very well. The building is behind the owners property with its own gravel parking and a marvellous view from the wide lounge and bedroom windows. On arrival you will normally be given a walkthrough of the property, explaining where everything is and what is available to you. The property appears to be a modern refurb/conversion with modern IKEA style furnishings throughout. In the lounge you have 2 double settees with a wood burner and the TV (with DVD player, sound system and inclusive Amazon Prime Video). Is the living room is also the internet router which gives you wifi access (the WPA2 security code is in the property booklet on the TV stand) and a bookcase with plenty of books and DVDs to keep you occupied should the weather turn nasty. The kitchen is very well appointed with electric hob, oven, fridge (with small freezer compartment), dishwasher, microwave and toaster. The bedroom has a kingsize bed, storage for clothing, sound dock (for older Apple devices and 3.5mm jack input) and a telescope for night viewing out of the full width window. A slight word of warning (from someone who can hit his head at every available opportunity) - the ceilings are angled so in some places are low!. Attached to the bedroom is the bathroom. This has a full size bath with a low shower. It is not suitable for a stand up shower as there is no bath screen and the walls are not protected for shower use. Personally for me this was fine as I prefer a bath to a shower after a day of sight-seeing. Finally there is also a washing machine and separate tumble drier if you find you need to do some washing whilst away. The area around the property is just outside the New Forest National Park and is ideal as a base for exploring the park and the beauty it has to offer. Local towns of Salisbury and Fordingbridge also offer places to visit and short walks to 'keep you fit'. A short distance (about 100m) from the properly you also have the Rockbourne Roman Villa. This is fairly small and doesn't offer much but for those interested in Roman Britain it is worth a visit being so close. Overall I was very impressed with this property. It is modern and ideal for a getaway for singles and couples.
Thanks for taking the time for such a comprehensive review hope to see you both again.

"Amazing place to stay...."
Sweetslade was just as lovely as in the photos on the website. It's a beautiful place with a stunning view to wake up to each morning. It had everything you could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. As it was November, the weather was a bit hit and miss but with that lovely log burner we certainly didn't care as we could soon cosy up in the lounge. We'd have no problem recommending Sweetslade to our friends and family and hope to go back ourselves. Thanks Robert :o)
Thanks for taking the time to review have sorted those pesky wasps out now thanks for the tip.

"Perfect countryside getaway"
We recently stayed for a long weekend at Sweetslade and were greeted very warmly on arrival. The barn was spotlessly clean and is extremely well equipped - it is clear that a lot of thought has gone into providing absolutely everything you could want. The kitchen facilities are excellent and there are lots of things to do eg lovefilm, books etc. Comfy bed, lovely bath. Feels really spacious yet really cosy at the same time. Thoroughly recommended.
Thanks for the great review its always uplifting to know that you enjoyed your stay.

"Perfect Base for exploring the new forest!"
If you're looking for romantic getaway to the new forest, look no further than sweetslade. The whole weekend was glorious. Sweetslade is quite frankly the perfect base for exploring the forest. The finish to the property was top drawer with every mod con you could wish for. Within walking distance to the best sunday lunch you'll ever have at the Rose and Thistle pub. Generally perfect. Would definitely stay again!
So pleased you both enjoyed your stay, the Rose&Thistle is hard to beat for a country pub sunday roast!

A well appointed holiday home with everything we needed and more. Spacious, comfortable and peaceful. Loved the log burner! Rockbourne is conveniently situated for visiting Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire, loads to see and do. If you go in the winter watch out for the ponys in the dark! Many thanks to the proprieter for the friendly welcome and the care that he took to create such a great place. We didn't want to come home!
Thanks for the glowing(woodburner)review its always great to get feedback and know guests enjoyed the holiday home.

"Wonderful place to stay"
My husband and I returned today from Sweetslade. We spent a week there and were not at all disappointed with the accommodation. The fixtures and fittings are all of a very high standard and we were extremely comfortable. It is set in a very peaceful location and in no time at all you can be in the New Forest enjoying all it and the surrounding area has to offer. We were told the local pub , The Rose and Thistle, serve excellent food, however, we were unable to eat there as it was fully booked, so book early! We did however, eat at the Bat and Ball in Breamore, which had a good atmosphere and dished up very good food, excellently presented. If we decide to go to this area again we would not hesitate to stay at this property and would certainly recommend it to friends.
Hope to see you return one day to try out the Rose & Thistle, thanks for leaving Sweetslade so clean and tidy!

"Lovely place to stay!"
Me and my partner stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it! We were welcomed as soon as we pulled up the drive and given a key and shown around with everything explained to us. It felt very clean and well looked after. The host was very helpful in giving us all the information we wanted and provided leaflets and postcodes to favourite places. I would definitely recommend sweetslade to friends and family.
Very happy that you enjoyed your stay and found the information useful, when you only have a few days its worthwhile having some local tips.

"Spacious and peaceful - would definitely return!"
We stayed in Sweetslade for three nights, and would definitely go back! The location is lovely, the house looks out over fields and is right in the middle of the countryside, which makes it very peaceful. Coming from London, it was so lovely to just hear birdsong rather than traffic! The house is only a short drive to the nearest town and right on the edge of the New Forest, so couldn't ask for a better location. The house itself is really light and airy, and the huge windows look right out over the fields. We stayed just at the beginning of the summer heatwave, and though the house was cool, the fan provided was useful! Robert had lots of leaflets of things to do in the area, and it was good to find out that the nearest bike hire centre was only 20 min drive away - ideal if you want to explore the New Forest! Everything felt very new and clean, and we would have loved to have stayed longer. It's a great find, and I highly recommend it.
Its great to hear that you enjoyed your stay it certainly must be a wonderful antidote to busy city life.

"Lovely accommodation in great location."
Having spent a great weekend at Sweetslade, I would recommend it! It is beautifully clean and very well looked after. It's in a great spot with all you need just a few minutes drive away (pub, shops etc). Lovely walks and cycle routes and would certainly recommend the Rose & Thistle pub in the very pretty village of Rockbourne which is very close by. Many thanks Robert, I'm already looking forward to our return!
