Rock

Rock is arguably the ideal place to holiday, either as a base to explore Cornwall or to stay in the local vicinity and enjoy the many activities, restaurants, and local villages nearby or simply to relax, taking in the fresh air and beautiful scenery.

Rock is located on the North Cornwall coast on the shores of the Camel Estuary with its fantastic sandy beaches and sand dunes. Daymer Bay, one of the best local beaches, is particularly good for rock pooling and is popular with families. Polzeath, about 2 miles away, is a renowned surfing beach where lessons can be arranged with local companies including board hire and wetsuits.

Walk from Rock along a mile of fine sand backed by dunes to Daymer Bay, tide permitting. Perhaps take a detour to see the breathtaking views from the top of Brea Hill and visit the historic St Enodoc Church, the burial place of the former poet laureate, John Betjeman. From Daymer Bay you can join the spectacular coastal path over the clifftops to Polzeath.

The estuary is ideally suited for many water sports; sailing, water skiing, fishing and boat trips of many sorts can all be arranged at Rock.

For the golfer there are two local courses, the famous St Enodoc golf course with its breathtaking views over the estuary and the nearby course at Roserrow Country Club.
Locally there are a fantastic variety of shops and activities, from a Michelin starred restaurant to Rick Steins Fish and Chips at Padstow ( a short ferry ride over the estuary), Cafes, Bars and Bakery. Further afield can be found Kings Arthurs stone, Tintagel castle, The Camel Trail bike track and much much more.
Rock has everything you need to make your holiday complete.

“Spacious comfortable house.”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2015

A generous house with a decent amount of space, well furnished in a homely style. Good garden and parking. Quiet location, 10 minutes walk to the Sailing club.

“Nice Property in a Great Location”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2015

The property is well maintained and spacious, though expensive but that can be explained by being in a popular and affluent village/town in Cornwall. A major plus is that the property allows a dog. Fantastic location for runs & walks (with the dog and the family respectively)! Down through the golf course to the beach and along the coast either way. We planned to go surfing in Polzeath and drove there in great anticipation and were bitterly disappointed. A tiny bay, hugely overcrowded and subsequently when I looked at an surf location review website Polzeath was dealt with very scathingly. We literally crawled through the village, out the other side and continued to an old family favourite from previous holidays at Widemouth Bay - about 45 minutes if traffic is light. Fantastic butcher and baker a short walk away plus a Spar. A 20 minute drive meanwhile to nearest Tesco to do a big shop. For a great meal out for a special occasion go to Nathan Outlaw's restaurant at St. Enodoc hotel. Don't waste your money on the various Rick Stein offerings in Padstow when this is but a short walk away. Nice little pub down at the bottom of the hill meanwhile selling local beers. I would thoroughly recommend the place to anyone looking for a family getaway.
