About Ringwood

Ringwood stands on the western edge of the New Forest at a crossing point of the River Avon. For centuries it has been the traditional market town of the New Forest with its market charter dating back to 1226.

Ringwood still has a lively Wednesday morning street market and has remained a delightful, unspoiled historic town with both quaint and modern shops, street entertainment, restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Ringwood features a good selection of shops to browse in including three supermarkets and a wide variety of smaller specialist retailers. Be sure to wander down West Street to view the River Avon from the old three-arched stone bridge or enjoy a stroll around Jubilee Garden. The church too is well worth a visit.

Ringwood is well placed on the Avon valley footpath and ideal for an overnight stop.
There are many other opportunities to discover the area on foot and the visitor information centre can provide details of local town trails and walks.

Ringwood

The New Forest National Park is a unique landscape of ancient woodland, heather-covered heath, wide lawns, boggy mires, gentle farmland, coastal saltmarsh and mudflats and picturesque villages. It is one of the last places in the south east of England to offer a sense of wildness and tranquillity. As the largest remaining area of lowland heath in Europe, it gives the flavour of a landscape that was once much more extensive. Like other National Parks, it is one of ‘Britain’s breathing spaces’.

“Great Stay”

Reviewed 22 Jan 2013

Accomodation was lovely - clean and tidy and had everything we wanted. Our accomodation was set over two floors but understand others might be on the same floor. A bit tricky if you wanted bedrooms on the same floor but we were fine. We were the only people using the indoor pool and hot tub on the 3 days we were there which was great. The pool was a bit on the cool side but not cold as such. Kids were happy enough playing in it for 2-3 hours each day without getting cold. Very nice, secluded location. Hosts were there for us when needed and very polite, but otherwise discreet.

Owner's reply: Thanks for your review. We love to hear our guests have enjoyed themselves. Maybe see you again Melissa and Family

“Love the heated pool”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2013

We stayed at forest lodge before Xmas. We were looking for somewhere to take our two small children (2 years old and 7 months old) away from the hustle and bustle of London. Both children LOVED the pool and we used it most mornings. The lodge had everything we needed and they were kind enough to lend us a high chair. We even made good use of the hot tub once the two kids went to bed (baby monitors stretched that far - fantastic!). The highlight of our stay for our two year old was the day trip to Peppa Pig world which was only about half an hour away. It's a must if you have small children! I would def recommend staying here. Thanks Melissa & Chris

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review! We are very pleased your children enjoyed our Pool so much, you will have to come back in the summer when our play area is completed. Kind Regards Melissa and Family

“Great Stay in a Great Location”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2013

We stayed for a couple of nights with our toddler and were looking for somewhere comfortable where we could relax after he had gone to bed. The Forest lodge was perfect for this, plenty of room to relax and unwind after some great days out. We were welcomed by very friendly owners, who were very helpful, and gladly shared local knowledge of great places to go and things to do with our little one. With Peppa Pig World and beautiful sandy beaches within a short drive we will definitely be coming back.

Owner's reply: Great Stuff, look forward to greeting you! Kindest Regards Melissa and Family

We had the most amazing couple of days staying in Ringwood. The log cabin was beautifully presented and very clean. It had a lovely warm feeling as soon as we entered. The pool was lovely and warm as were the owners. We were very close for all the villages and attractions to see. We couldn't fault it at all and cant wait to go back... we didn't want to leave!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review, we really appreciate it. We hope you will come and stay again. Kind Regards Melissa and Family

“Wonderful accomodation and very central location to attractions”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2012

We stayed here for a week in August. 2 Adults and 3 children. There were 2 bedrooms- we had a double bed and the children had 2 single beds and a travel cot in their room. The beds were very comfortable and likewise the 2 massive sofas in the living room. There was ample clothes storage. There was freeview tv. The kitchen was adequate for our needs, although there wasn't a freezer/icebox we were invited to use the freezer in the owners house. A small freezer/icebox would have been better though. There was a large shower and we brought with us a rubber disk plug so that we could fill up the bottom tray for the children to sit in as they don't like showers, so it was like a bath to them! The swimming pool was attached to the lodge and was great although cold (despite being said to be heated)compared to our local swimming pool. This didn't put us off though and used it every day. The owners were friendly and welcoming. Great family days out included Moors Valley, Avon Heath(great park)Paultons park/Peppa pig World (although hideously busy in the school holidays!) Although we had a fantastic time the only thing that we did not enjoy about the location of the lodge was it's close proximity to the noisy A31 dual carriageway. Coming from the country we are not used to this level of traffic noise and it continued on throughout the night. Saying that we did zone out of the noise and it really wasn't an issue in the end. I had my ear plugs which helped at night. We also didn't spend that much time at the lodge in the day so was not sitting around in the grounds listening to it. The New Forest is certainly very beautiful and next time we return would like to explore more of the natural attractions.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review, we appreciate all your comments. We aim to provide our guests with the best experience possible and are always making improvements to enhance our guests stay with us. Thanks Again Melissa and Family
