La Vallee is an elegant traditional merchants house situated in the small village of Rille, which itself is set in a conservation area. Surrounded by forests and fields it is just one kilometre from the Lake at Rille. The beautiful lake is large and due to its grass banks which run at a shallow gradient into the water, is ideal for swimming. One side is given over to boating and windsurfing. The other is a spectacular wildlife sanctuary with hides to observe the wildlife. There is also a restaurant and bar set amongst the trees. There is as supermarket about five minutes drive away which is open 7 days a week, and restaurants in neighbouring villages – and a bar at the lake.
Approximately 30 minutes drive is the popular chateau town of Saumur. As you cross the bridge over the Loire you can see the chateau on the hill which is beautifully lit in the evening.
There are no end of restaurants and bars: the ones situated beneath the Chateau in the square have a particularly bustling cafe culture. There is also a wide variety of shops and up market boutique's.
The Troglodyte Caves are less than an hour's drive and if you fancy some wine tasting the famous wine growing region of St Nicholas de Borgeuil is twenty minutes drive. In addition to the chateau at Saumur, there are numerous other chateaux to visit close by. You could also consider trips to Futuroscope and the city of Tours.

The house itself is a 19th century merchants house, more elegant than rustic, with attractive keystone's of touffeau stone. The entire house, which has full central heating, has been modernised to a high standard. The picture above right shows the front aspect with its classical Bulls Eye windows in the roof. The front door leads to a central hall from which all ground floor rooms and the stairs are accessed. There is a double aspect Lounge that runs from the front to the back of the house on one side, equipped with Freeview satellite T.V., C.D. and DVD.
There is a formal Dining Room with the original oak floor and a large newly fitted Kitchen / Breakfast Room with table and chairs to seat eight. The Kitchen is equipped with oven, hob, sink, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There are plenty of fitted cupboards equipped with cooking implements, glasses, crockery and cutlery for eight. The utility area with washing machine is situated in the garage building. There is a W.C. off the hall.
Upstairs there is a large Master Bedroom with En suite Bathroom, together they run the width of the front aspect of the house. There is also a family Bathroom and separate shower room. There are a further three smaller double rooms. One with a double bed and two with twin beds. There is also a cot. The garden surrounds the house on all sides with a small section at the front with magnolia trees, and a large garden at the back mainly given over to lawn with a few apple trees. There is a BBQ, 2 sets of garden seating and a large lawned area suitable for chilldren

A very large garden to the rear overlooks fields. Swings for children and an area for ball games. A large patio and BBQ, with 2 sets / areas for outside seating. There is off street parking for 3 cars, and garden on all sides. Bikes can be hired at the lake nearby.
Our caretakers who live in the neighbouring village are English and will visit during your stay and are available should any problems arise.

You’ll have your work cut out if you want to explore all the key cities, towns and villages in the Loire region – there are so many, each deserving of your holiday time in order to fully appreciate their charms.
If you’re looking for French people who regard themselves as speakers of ‘perfect French’, then Tours is a must, and if you’re just interested in experiencing the excellent local wine – you should be equally sated. Orléans, too, is not to be missed, with five wonderful bridges and lots of history.
Another must-see is the town of Chartres and its cathedral – considered the finest Gothic example in the country. On the subject of cathedrals, don’t miss the UNESCO World Heritage listed Gothic Cathedral of Saint Etienne in Bourges.

"Beautiful house and setting"
We had a wonderful, peaceful time at La Vallee. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. It's in a beautiful setting and is well situated for sightseeing. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and are looking forward to staying again.

"Absolutely fabulous, it is now a regular holiday stay for us"
We have stayed in La Vallee several times now and we are going again this year. Wonderful house in a beautiful rural setting, but also close enough to larger towns and plenty of places to visit. Within walking distance of a beautiful lake too. Perfect for older couples, younger couples and families. The house is very spacious, well equipped and comfortable with a lovely secure garden that the children love to play in. We can't recommend this house highly enough.
