Description

This incredible holiday home in Chianti is located on the hills, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, facing the Arno valley and the Pratomagno mountain range, just south of Florence (15km). It is a Tuscan medieval tower house and is part of a hamlet. The tower, originally built with white limestone in the 12th century, was restored between the 15th and 16th century assuming its current aspect. This farmhouse consists in 3 self-catering apartments for a total of 9 accommodations but is better occupied by couples since the bathroom is close to the double bedroom. The flats are respectively one on the ground floor of the main house, and one on the ground floor and the other on the first and second floor of the tower. The apartments are very comfortable and furnished with period furniture. Originally the ceilings of the tower were decorated with frescoes, today traces can be found on a panel in the flat on the first floor. In the accommodations there are reference books on Renaissance

“Fabulous apartment, fabulous location.”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2014

This apartment is in a glorious location overlooking Tuscan hills. We stayed late August, early September and sat out on the terrace for our early coffee and breakfast every day of our two weeks stay. Again afternoons and early evenings on the terrace. Huge. A large sitting room, a large bedroom with a very comfortable bed, and normal size kitchen and bathroom. Very well equipped, literally everything you could want. Pontassieve nice town near by with great COOP, not like UK coop, fabulous fresh food all in season. We went to Florence on the train, brilliant, but got mis-advised on train back and went via Arezzo, which made 20 minute journey two and a half hours, but we did get a wonderful view of the countryside. Parking was free, but had to tour car park for 20 minutes to hunt for someone leaving. We loved it and hope to go back again. Thanks Massimo and Martina, and Guiseppe, who smoothed it all through. Great communications from Giuseppe, got us to the door, no problem.
