“Fantastic Cottage”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2017

Greencroft House is a lovely cottage in a village location. The field outside is ideal for the kids and particularly appealed to our football mad 8 year old! The inside is spacious and the cinema room brilliant. Everything we needed and we had a fantastic week. Recommend visiting Forbidden Corner, Thorp perrow, Fountains abbey, Brimham Rocks, Lightwater Valley and good walks around low force and Gibsons cave. The local pub is well worth a visit with gorgeous food and the owners went out of their way to make our sons birthday special. Overall, highly recommend the cottage and the area. Thank you Katy!

“Wonderful retreat”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2013

We had a lovely weekend at Greencroft. Situated in an idyllic location, the house itself is positioned on the edge of a large green which was great for the children to play on. There was a small park and football posts too. Greencroft had everything we needed - it had spacious rooms, and was very well equipped from kitchen utensils to DVD's and books. The house is surprisingly big and the children loved playing hide and seek in the many rooms - it is like a Tardis inside! It also has a pleasant enclosed garden area too. Our group commented that one or two rooms could be updated but I think that is reflected in the price so that didn't really bother me. It was very clean and comfortable. The lady who gave us the keys was very welcoming, showing us round and explaining how things worked etc. The cinema room was a great feature. The room also had musical instruments and a football table! Would like to go again in the future.

“Lovely old house-great for family get togethers”

Stayed here for a family get together and very pleasantly surprised by the space and character of the house. The cinema room was brilliant, great for a family dvd for our mum's 80th. The kids loved acting out on the stage and using the musical instruments provided. Only problem was that a weekend was not long enough to make use of the facilities! In lovely location not far from Richmond which is worth a visit for its castle, little independant shops and walks by the river. Also worth visiting in area was Easby Abbey and Aysgarth Falls.

“Spiffing”

Reviewed 9 May 2012

We booked this accommodation because of the art deco inspired cinema/theatre for a birthday party... the children loved it and put on a fantastic show for us. The adults enjoyed watching vintage movies which we bought along for the occassion. The house was stylish, homely and comfortable and we had some wonderful meals around the large table in the dinning room. The log fire in the living room added a cozy warmth too. The village is beautiful and the local pub is a stones throw away. Perfect for older children. You would need to watch little ones like a hawk due to the river. Would have loved to stay for longer!

“A great get away”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2011

We stayed at Greencroft during August 2011 - 6 adults, 2 young children and 1 baby. The house was easily big enough so we didnt feel restricted for space. The kids loved the cinema room and spent many a happy hour sat watching their DVD's on the big screen. The sun room was great to relax in and had a lovely opening into the courtyard garden. The village itself was very nice - with a large green onto which the back door opens on, just a quick run across the football pitch was some swings & slide that kept the little ones amused in between feeding the ducks in the stream. The pub opposite does a nice pint of real ale and had a friendly feeling whenever we ventured over. Richmond and the beautiful dales are a short car ride away and worthy of exploring. We also had a ride over to the Yorkshire East coast for a day with buckets and spades. As well as a trip to flamingo land which was less than an hours drive away. All in all a lovely weeks stay and we would recommend to others. Thanks to Katy for making the booking process an easy one. Rick Grayson & family

“Relaxed/chilled weekend”

Reviewed 20 May 2011

We stayed for a long weekend at Greencroft. From beginning to end the service was terrific. Katy, owner, dealt quickly and efficiently with my emails. The info she provided to us was very helpful the details of location were straightforward and we had no problems finding the cottage. Sam, who looks after the cottage was brilliant. She was very accommodating and went out of her way to be helpful. She gave us lots of interesting info on the area - and even invited us to the village's Royal Wedding festivities - very welcoming!! We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend - we spent it with our friends and both our children were thrilled with their bedrooms, the village green outside which they used for cricket and football and the swings down the bottom of the green. It was lovely to let them out to explore themselves without having to worry. We ate in the local pub on two of our nights and really enjoyed our meals - again it felt cosy and welcoming. We loved the area, the proximity to Richmond and the access to some lovely walks not far from the cottage. The cinema was used by the boys - who really enjoyed it - and the sun room by the girls to sit and drink a chilled glass of wine and have a bit of down time. All in all we would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. It feels like a home from home and we all had a memorable weekend.

“FANTASTIC, very nice location and beautiful house”

Reviewed 20 May 2011

We stayed at Greencroft for my mum's 60th Birthday celebration and we needed space for our large family to stay. The children had a fantastic time having the green to run about on and there is also a park at the end. We had a lovely walk of the village and took some nets down to the stream to catch some tiddlers. A lovely pub across the green which does lovely pies. The cinema is an added bonus and doubles up as a performing space. Very comfy, clean and highly recommended.
