House / 3 bedrooms / sleeps 8
The house consists of a newly fitted dining kitchen, living room with dining table and woodburning stove, further living room with pool table, WC and hallway. Upstairs there are three large bedrooms, two with double beds, and one with a double bed and 2 single beds, and large bathroom with bath and shower. To the rear of the house there is a garden with a wonderful terrace for alfresco eating. There is also a very large garden to the front of the house which can be lit in the evening, with numerous fruit trees (apple, walnut, hazelnut, fig, and many more which can be picked and eaten in season). It has a boules court , barbecue, garden furniture and sun loungers etc.
The house is located within a small hamlet about 9km from the town of Verteillac where there are cafes (most providing free wi-fi), restaurants, a bakers, butchers, grocery store, post office, hairdresser and pharmacy. Quiet and peaceful and providing a perfect base for discovering the Dordogne. Riberac is about 15 mins away and has a good supermarket (Leclerc) plus three others, a lively square with many bars, cafes and restaurants. The Friday market is real fun - very large. The market at Chalais (about 20 minutes away) is huge and you can easily spend a whole day there. Bourdeilles Castle is about 25mins away, Brantome is 30 mins and Perigueux about 40 mins.

The Dordogne region
The Dordogne region of South-West France is one of the most beautiful and popular regions of France. Chateaux, beautiful medieval towns and villages, unspoilt countryside and prehistoric caves are just some of the reasons why so many people visit year after year. The summers are warm-hot (25-35 degrees) with occasional showers. Spring and autumn in the Dordogne are similar but milder (22-28 degrees) and winters are generally milder than in the UK, with occasional short periods of cold weather.
Riberac, is 15 kms away and is a vibrant town. Featuring an array of shops, hypermarkets, beautiful restaurants and other facilities such as tennis and canoeing. Not to be missed is the renowned Friday market at Riberac which is a great social occasion and perfect shopping opportunity: you can easily while away a couple of hours checking out the local specialities. Lake Jemaye is about 35 minures away where you will find river beach swimming, a beautiful manmade beach in a wonderful setting, lovely walks and a really good restaurant.. Aubeterre at 10-15 minutes has a lovely river beach and play area . There is outdoor swimming at Riberac and Brantome. Horse riding is only 15 minutes away.
