Mon Plaisir is a stone house, ensuring your comfortable get away retreat, it's homely for a small family or perfect for a couple wanting to explore the region or simply to rest and relax under the shade of a tree with a good book and a glass of wine, and enjoy French living.

The house itself sits at the front of 20 acres of parkland, half of which is now arable land, in the heart of the Dordogne, and is your perfect base to further explore all that this rich region has to offer you. Discover historic sites and chateaux, sample the local wine, baguettes and patés, this region boasts some of the finest wines in France.

With a host of activities, events and festivals throughout the summer in the town, this is probably one of the best regions of France with an unspoilt landscape, charming medieval stone villages, some spectacular scenery and a pleasant climate.

The stone house remains cool during the summer heat, and this is great for your health, ( air-conditioning units really can be as disagreeable for your health as over headed homes.)

There is some landscaping in the gardens which containing a few rare and unusual plants and finds, Mon Plaisir offers you spacious and comfortable modern accommodation, three bedrooms with double beds, one with a super king size bed, and one modern bathroom and one showroom, all await you.

To the Outside of the property you will find numerous terraces and seating areas, ensuring you find that perfect spot, sheltered from the summer sun. There is also a private Jacuzzi to the rear of the property.

For freshly baked bread and morning croissants, the towns' boulangeries and a range of shops are just five minutes' walk away, so a car isn't really necessary; that said, we would recommend being as mobile as possible, the area boasts many features that are well worthy of further exploration!

The house has a second living room that can be used as additional downstairs sleeping accommodation.

On the first floor, there are three bedrooms and the family bathroom: you walk through the second bedroom to get to the third; both these bedrooms have direct access to a balcony, that overlooks the parkland to the rear of the property.

You should find everything you need for an enjoyable stay, a washing machine, dryer, central heating, and a fully equipped kitchen. There is French TV, a DVD player and I phone sound system, plus unlimited Wi-Fi Internet access. Please note that the grounds are expansive and are not fully enclosed, but part of the garden around the house is enclosed and suitable for pets.

You can enjoy eating in, or, dining al-fresco, or why not sample one of the local and inexpensive restaurants. The Périgord region is renowned for the delicious gastronomy and has some of the best value for money eateries in the whole of France.

Staying at Mon Plaisir affords you the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind. Enjoy the relaxed pace of life town, browse around the famous local market or go for walks and take in the scenic countryside and wild life.

The Dordogne region

There are easy travel links by road and train to the Dordogne region of France from the UK and mainland Europe, many flights (including low cost airlines operating to Bergerac) and also international flights from more faraway places that arrive into Bordeaux airport.There are many 'famous sights' that we associate with the Dordogne, including Lascaux caves, Marqueyssac gardens, medieval Sarlat, castles such as Chateau Castelnaud and the prehistoric caves in the Vezere Valley.Yet it is the places that you visit outside these 'hot-spots' that will stay longest in your memory - the scenery, the peace, the coffee in a small cafe, the picnic next to a stream. The Dordogne is beautiful in the same way as the Cotswolds or Tuscany are beautiful - the way it simply makes you want to stay forever enjoying the quiet, the countryside, the scenery...Some of the other best known highlights include the gouffre de Padirac caves and canoeing the Dordogne, with the most popular towns and villages including Bergerac, Brantome, Excideuil, La Roque-Gageac, Le Bugue, Ribérac and Rocamadour.The Dordogne Valley usually refers to the path followed by the river, and is towards the south of the department where it travels from east to west, passing through Bergerac and many of the other popular villages. The more northerly half of the department is quite a way from the river - but tourism in the department certainly doesn't start and end with the river - be sure to venture north and south a little to discover the quiet but equally beautiful regions a little more hidden from the public gaze...

Riberac

Ribérac is a centrally located market town, in the north of the Dordogne to the north of Mussidan, 27 miles from the historic town of Bérgerac. Dating from the 9th century and set in the Dronne valley, Ribérac is at its best on a Friday, market day for reputedly the biggest market in Périgord. At most other times it is fairly quiet.The town lacks significant individual attractions found in larger French cities but is a pleasant town in an attractive setting in the rolling countryside of the northern Dordogne region.There are two main attractions near the town - a large forest, 'de la Double'; and, lots of Romanesque churches, some great examples can be seen at Festalemps, Faye and Siorac-de-Riberac.Ribérac makes a very good base for exploring this northern part of the Dordogne - don't miss Lusignac, a very pretty little village with great views, a nice medieval church and a chateau.
