The Liguria region
The Italian Riviera has many great places to visit from Hanbury Gardens, San Remo to the beaches, to the old villages set back in the hills. And is great to visit all year round.
Rezzo is a lovely friendly hill village with a river below it for walking , biking, swimming and picnics. Rezzo has two shops for supplies and a restaurant/bar. There is another restaurant Lavinella in the next village, Lavina and an outdoor swimming pool in Cenova (Rezzo, Cenova and Lavina are all on the same road and with 3km of each other)
There are many different food festivals in the area throughout the year.
Over at Molini Di Triora, 27km away there is mountain biking and there is climbing further along the coast at Finale. Beaches and shopping in Imperia and Alassio are only 30 -40 minutes away. Rezzo also has a tennis court/football pitch and in the summer the village holds several Feste with local food and traditional music and dancing. The town of Imperia has markets on a Wednesday and Saturday morning, where you can buy local olive oil and olives, cheese, plants and clothes. There are also a few vineyards in the area for wine tasting.

"A great house with great views in a peaceful location"
Casa Cavour is a beautifully redeveloped & refurbished house on a quiet street (no cars) with great views over the rest of Rezzo and down the valley. We called Amalie on arrival and she met us nearby. Recommend you just park up in the carpark she recommends as the streets get mighty narrow very soon afterwards! She showed us around the house & introduced us to the woodpellet-burning boiler - an awesome bit of kit that I grew to love. Need to keep it topped up, although it was end December/start January when we were there. Really appreciated the Prosecco/Olive oil/other local produce left for us. Rezzo is a great "get away from it all" location in the winter although I'm told it gets quite lively in the summer with various fetes etc. The traditional architecture is fantastic. I have flown to both Nice & Genoa in the past and can thoroughly recommend the latter. Fairly small & quiet. A very easy drive (toll was circa EUR10/15 I think) from there to Rezzo, although you need to keep your eyes out for Rezzo signs as you get closer - they tend to spring it on you last minute - no doubt not helped by the fact we arrived in total darkness. Rezzo is built on a mountain side with mostly car-free narrow hilly streets, so best suited to those who like to get around by foot. However, it is small enough to get anywhere within 10mins or so walk. I have no hesitation in recommending Rezzo in general & Casa Cavour in particular.

"Perfect for short or long stays with family or friends."
This newly decorated stone house is located on a hill, in a tiny Medieval village of Rezzo, Imperia region and surrounded by strikingly beautiful sky high mountains. It has three floors, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first two flors, and a kitchen - diner - sitting area on the top floor. The kitchen door takes you to the patio which has a fantastic view over the village and the mountains, with a long wooden table, two long benches on two sides of the table, a big umbrella, couple of stretcher beds for sunbathing and everything for bbq. The house owner, a young and extremely sweet English woman called Amalie, met us at the car park and showed us to the property. The village roads are very narrow so you would have to walk about 100 meters from the car park. If you arrive with heavy bags Amelie will take them on her funny little track to the house for you. The house is equipped with all kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom necessities including even shower gel and washing powder to make you feel like home. Some locally made produce - a bottle of sparkling wine, olives, pesto, pasta are waiting for you on the kitchen table as a welcome present. If you decide to stay in Rezzo you will need a car and a GPS navigation, as the village is quite remote but very close driving distance to Imperia and its beaches, San Remo and other places. The property will fit both, adventurous travellers who like changing places while they are on holiday, and the ones who look for a peasful place to relax and forget the hussle and bussle of the city life.
