We booked La Porcherie as we were visiting my parents who were staying locally. It was a flying visit of 3 days, which before we arrived seemed just the right amount of time for a little break. As … More

“Wonderful Cottage in tranquil surroundings”

Our family spent Oct Half Term week at La Porcherie and had a wonderful, relaxing week. We knew the private pool was heated but were still unsure how much we would use it. The weather was very good to us for the whole week with temperatures in the early 20's and the pool was heated at 31 degs and you couldn't get us out the pool, it was fantastic. The Games room in the adjacent barn was also well used with table tennis, pool table and darts board providing great entertainment. As we only had a week, we didn't do a great deal of exploring and just chilled out instead. We were able to enjoy all our meals, including breakfast, outside and it was still warm in the evening as we watched the moon and stars rise. Phil & Tracey respected our privacy but were on hand if we needed them. One of the best places we have ever stayed in and we will definitely return one day, hopefully for a longer stay.

“One of he best holidays we have ever had.”

“Cosy, spotless cottage in beautiful setting.”

We had a lovely week with our children at La Porcherie. The cottage is cosy and spotless and has everything you could need. The pool was clean, warm and has a lovely soft moulded floor - it was fantastic for the kids. The surrounding countryside and setting were beautiful. Unfortunately we didn't have the best weather and the only downside was that there wasn't a huge amount to do close by and many of the attractions didn't open until June. However if you get the weather you won't want to leave the poolside!

Very clean and comfortable cottage. Phil and Tracey are excellent hosts. The views are amazing, the swimming pool and games room are great. It's the ideal place to get away from it all and relax. Enjoyed watching the Buzzards every day.

“Peaceful, clean, comfortable”

A cared-for cottage that gave us privacy and space. it had everything we needed and non-intrusive help and advice was always available from Tracy and Phil. Lovely markets, chateaux, friendly locals, buzzards, hoopoes, only downside was the abysmal weather - but the cottage was snug and we were cosy. Beautiful clean pool, shame we hardly got in it! Games room very handy.

“A relaxing environment, a lovely location, and very well equipped.”

The English owners make you feel very welcome, and offer help and local tips. They have done a great job in converting the house: good quality materials, craftsmanship and furniture makes it feel very comfortable. Apparently they have English TV on satellite, but the property & weather was too good to be stuck inside! They are always looking to improve the property: the latest addition this year is an on-site barn conversion with a games room (pool, table football, table tennis) which delighted our 11-yr old son (and Dad), and a gym. The heated pool was a delight, even though the weather was hot enough not to really need additional heating, and very well looked after. Berry Province is relatively underdeveloped, but we appreciated the peace and quiet amidst the lovely rolling countryside: there are plenty of things to do, and the roads are flat enough & quiet enough for family cycling. La Chatre the nearest town (~ 5 miles) has some character as well as good shops & restaurants, and we really enjoyed their Bastille Day celebrations (band, lantern procession & fireworks). A wonderful holiday.

Myself, my husband and our 6 month old baby stayed in the Gite from 15th September for 1 week. We loved it! Phil and Tracey were so accomodating to us with a young baby - the pool temp was turned up, travel cot set up and highchair were all readily available. Very comfortable and well appointed Gite. The local town, La Chatre had lots of shops and cafes to keep you entertained and Chateauroux a little further on was good to visit too. Would thoroughly recommend this Gite to anyone! thanks for a lovely holiday :-)

We stayed here at the end of October, beginning of November with our two young children and could not fault the property or surroundings. The accommodation is very well equiped (pool towels being provided was a very good idea as meant we didn't have to travel home with wet towels!) and very comfortable too which is something that you cannot always say about rentals. The addition of UK satellite TV was great - kept up with Strictly(!) and the girls had cbeebies to watch on our one rainy day. The pool is obviously the big selling point and we were not disappointed - it was such a treat to be swimming in a heated pool in late October - the weather was not all that warm but as long as you kept your shoulders under you were lovely and toasty warm! Phil looked after us very well and was on hand if we needed anything but very unobtrusive. All in all, a fantastic stay - our girls loved it and we would love to return again, although maybe at a slightly warmer time of the year! Thank you!
