We stayed here for a week. Had a nightmare journey on public transport with train caught in flooding - delayed by nearly 3 hours! Panicked as had ordered an online shopping delivery, so called Rachel … More

Owner's reply: Thanks so much for your lovely review, its very kind of you to take the trouble and very much appreciated. Apologies for the pub situation, it has been less than ideal in recent months. I'm pleased to say there are new owners now in the Cheshire Cheese and it is once more cheery and serving food. Also, its worth noting that The Grapes pub in the village is being renovated and planning to open late summer/early autumn 2016, we have high expectations as the new owners seem lovely and keen to please. There's also the fish and chip shop, where you can get a takeaway or eat in ( a very 1960's experience...). Thanks once again for the review. Rachel

“Perfect Peaks break”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2015

We have just returned from a wonderful week in the Peak District staying at Ruby Cottage which is an attractive country cottage and just as described on the website. The cottage is situated in a typical picturesque village location on a lovely quiet street. It has all you could need from a well equipped kitchen, DVDs and books to a good wi-fi connection. The cottage is clean and decorated very tastefully. We had a great week exploring the local areas especially with the great weather that we were lucky to have. The cottage is well placed so that many towns/villages are easily accessible, with many walks close by and from the front door. The owners are very hospitable and friendly and were kind enough to leave a few essentials upon our arrival. Overall, we would highly recommend Ruby Cottage.
