Location description from owner

The Paphos District

Tombs Of The KingsThe site contains a set of well-preserved underground tombs and chambers used by residents of Nea Paphos from the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD, during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. The seven excavated tombs are scattered over a wide area and all are accessible to the public. The tombs are unique in Cyprus due to the peristyle court structure, which was influenced by Egyptian architecture. The ancient Egyptians believed that tombs for the dead should resemble houses for the living, and this tradition is reflected in the Paphos tombs. You should allow two hours for visiting the site.Paphos MosaicsThe mesmerizing collection of intricate and colorful mosaics in the southern sector of the archaeological site, immediately south of the Agora, is a pleasure to discover. Found by accident during leveling operations in 1962, these exquisite mosaics decorated the extensive floor area of a large, wealthy residence from the Roman period. The mosaics are regarded as one of the best places to see in Cyprus.Fort Of PaphosA small and empty fort guards the harbour entrance and is entered by a little stone bridge over a moat. Most visitors climb the fort for a good view of the harbour from its roof. The fort also serves as an event venue during the Paphos Aphrodite Festival.BEACHES:Pharos Lighthouse Beach,10 min. walking from our apartment. The Pharos beach is a family beach located on the Tomb of Kings road in Paphos. There is a pebble and rock beach with some patches of sand in between. There is a bar where one can hire sun beds and umbrellas. It is easily accessible as the bus stop is situated just outside the beach.Paphos Municipal Beaches,at 10 min by car.Along the coast of Kato Paphos there are a number of small beaches. All the famous and big hotels are located along or near their coastline. There are enough facilities for children and adults and are within close reach of the taverns. These beaches are very popular among children.Coral Bay at 10 min by bus.Coral Bay is one of the most beautiful and sandy beaches in Paphos and it can be base point to discover places like Troodos Mountains or fishing villages of Latchi and Polis. Sparkling clear waters are excellent for swimming, diving and other water sports. Some of the best hotels and restaurants are located here and one can shop here for fish and local Cyprus delicacies. The seawaters glimmer in the night and one can enjoy the view by sitting in a nearby tavern sipping a local glass of wine.

Regina Gardens

You are close to the gorgeous EU Blue Flag beaches, delightful shops and within walking distance to restaurants and supermarket. It is also not far from the main shopping areas and nightlife with an array of traditional tavernas, British pubs and hot clubs and bars. food here is cheap but good, with many locals and tourists dining out as a matter of course. Bus services are low cost and fequent, taking you to harbour shops, the popular beaches at Coral Bay and the bustling market area in old Paphos, where you can haggle for souvenirs. If you decide to rent some wheels, local companies offer good deals on everything from bicycles to luxury 4WDs. If you want to take it easy, local tour companies arrange trips for those who wish to see more of this beautiful island in air-conditioned luxury. Paphos is one of the most beautiful, ancient towns in Cyprus. Once the capital of the island of Cyprus during Roman times, today it is a small harbour slowly becoming an attractive tourist destination. The history of Paphos dates back to the Neolithic period and to the Greek Goddess Aphrodite who emerged from the sea at this very site. Many rulers have controlled Paphos, that include the Mycenaean’s, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Byzantines, Venetians, Turkish and the British.Once a major port, it lost its position during the British rule.Today, however, Paphos is evolving as a major tourist centre with the help of government and private sector investment. Dams and proper roads have been built, and money has been spent on development of hotels, restaurants and luxury villas to attract tourists. Kato Pafos, is the main attraction of the city as all the hotels and villas are based there and it is also nearby the sea.The architecture of Paphos is very rural, but extremely beautiful. Nature has remained undisturbed and one can find here a variety of astonishing gorges, long stretched beautiful coastlines and nature trails for outdoors activities.

Beautiful apartment on second floor in quiet location, fully equipped, nice terrace, great swimming pool, car not required, 300 m to bus stop, 500m to Lidl supermarket. We spent great 2weeks holidays in it.

“Fantastic apartment”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2012

Great apartment very high standard and very clean. Angelos arranged airport pickup and left us a very nice welcome pack (food and even beer and wine). Nice complex, quiet location with a great pool, short to walk to supermarket restaurant, bar. Short bus ride to Paphos center. Had a great holiday and would definitely go to this appartment again if we go back to Cyprus
