“Home from Home in rural Norfolk”

My partner and I needed a short break away from the hustle and bustle of business life and our good friends highly recommended Lilac Tree Cottage to us. Lilac Tree Cottage was everything we wanted for our escape and more. We found the accommodation to be a 'Home from Home" with all the amenities we needed and more! The lounge with its log burner was a blessing as it added that extra something special over a hotel or B&B stay! Cosy accommodation with everything to make our stay special. We found the location to be ideal for both the North Norfolk coast and the historic streets of Norwich. Needless to say with fresh country air, coastal walks great local pubs we slept well. Lilac Tree Cottage is certainly on our list for places to return to and are looking at dates now for a Summer escape!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind comments. I'm so pleased you had such a relaxing break. Hope to see you again soon.

“Pretty, but not so private”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2015

Whilst I knew when booking the accommodation that the property adjoined that of the owners, I expected that it would still be quiet, but unfortunately I could hear everything going on in the owners house when in the living room/dining area and realised an hour into our stay that I had spent my time whispering as I felt like I was encroaching on somebody's home life. In addition to this, there appeared to be a problem with the stove which appeared to suck the flames up the flue and meant we could never get a proper fire going, no matter how much firelighter we added. This is a real shame as the property itself is tastefully decorated and equipped with all you need for a nice stay. It's also a good location to visit the coast and broads, but unfortunately no walkable watering hole. Lastly, the bed was very uncomfortable, exacerbated by the plastic sheet covering the mattress and as somebody who is used to camping, I'm not fussy. I've taken all this and the good price into account to come to the overall 3/5 rating.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry to hear you weren't happy with your stay at Lilac Tree Cottage. For the benefit of our future guests I would like to address a couple of your points. In regards to noise for our home, we are very honest in our description and anyone booking with us knows the holiday cottage adjoins our home. I’d like to also make clear sounds can only be heard when we use our kitchen, which is the adjoining room of the main house and the holiday cottage. We are respectful when guests are staying and keep use of this room to a minimum. We are aware that, at times, guests will be able to hear day to day family noise, but the price of our cottage does reflect this. We have had the wood burner checked and no fault was found. We have replaced the mattress cover with a quilted protector which will hopefully be more comfortable for future guests. We appreciate all feedback and constantly strive to make our guests stays enjoyable and relaxing and where we can make improvements we certainly will.

“Relaxing cottage in quiet location”

Reviewed 15 Feb 2015

Well equipped small cottage in quiet location but within short drive of several rural pubs, city of Norwich & the coast. Friendly welcome from owner on arrival and prompt e-mailed responses during booking process. Nice to have wood-burner & wi-fi, bed was rather squeaky and could have been a bit more comfortable. Would definitely recommend for peaceful breaks to explore this area.

Owner's reply: I'm glad to hear you had an enjoyable stay at Lilac Tree Cottage. Thank you for letting us know about the squeaky bed, I'm happy to say this has been rectified now! Hope you see you again.

“Relaxing, comfortable, home from home.”

Well equipped, spacious cottage set in peaceful location with great countryside and walks from the door step, perfect for a quiet get away great pubs and amenities within walking distance, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will definitely be using this cottage again.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely comment, glad you had a lovely stay and we look forward to seeing you again.

“Just as written on details.”

We followed our sat nav but it took us to the wrong location, we found the house by asking a local in the village. We were greeted by Lauren who welcomed us and showed us around. The cottage was just as described, comfortable and homely. Nice touch of milk, tea sugar, biscuits and fresh laid eggs to welcome us. The cottage was well equipped, plenty of books a selection of dvd's and local information. The garden was dog safe, and the owners dog was friendly towards our dog through the fence. The dog walk was little way from the house along the road. Entering the drive was easy but be advised to reverse in as the cars can come alone quite fast when you want to leave the property. It is in a good location for visiting the surrounding areas, Cromer, Holt etc.

Owner's reply: Sat Nav notoriously misses us! However, I have amended the directions I give and I hope this helps, guests are also more than welcome to call us and we will guide them in the right direction! Glad you had a lovely stay and we hope to see you again.

“A beautiful cottage in a rural location, with easy access to Norwich and the North Norfolk coast”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2014

Everything was really straightforward to book and arrange with the owner Lauren. We arrived and found complimentary tea, milk sugar, biscuits and some eggs as the owners have their own chickens. The accommodation was clean, warm and tidy and we really did feel home from home with TV, Wi-Fi and a log burner, it is in a beautiful quite location, but with easy access to the north Norfolk coast which is what we were looking for. The local village pub and shops were about a 6-7 minute drive. Although the cottage is adjoining the owners property, we felt as if we were the only ones their which was great, but it was nice to know they were around should we have needed them. All in all a great few days away, and will be re-booking in the future.

Owner's reply: I'm so pleased you had a great time. Thank you for your wonderful comment, it's very much appreciated. Hope to see you again
