Description from owner

Description

Welcome to our 16th Century house, situated on the bank of the river Dadou. While the house has been completely modernised, it retains charming original features including stone walls and beamed ceilings, next to the latest in modern fixtures and fittings. It has a spacious kitchen, which guests may use to prepare meals, two cosy living rooms (one with a wood-burning fire) and a relaxing riverside terrace with views of the weir. There is a basement for bicycle storage.

The Moroccan bedroom features a very comfortable king size bed, a chest of drawers and bedside tables. It is very airy and spacious, with riverside windows. The private bathroom includes a towel heater and a solar-heated rain shower. All towels and linen are included.

The Neighbourhood

The house is situated in the quiet village of Lafenasse. There are some lovely walks through the village and the surrounding countryside, or you can take a trip to the local town of Realmont (Wednesday market is legendary!)

This region of France (Tarn) offers some exceptional sight-seeing and gastronomic possibilities - the vineyards of Gaillac, the historic bastide towns such as Lautrec (one of the 100 most beautiful villages in France), and the bustling cultural hubs of Albi and Castres.

“We wish we could have stayed longer”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2016

We stayed for four nights at the end of a month in southern France. With hindsight we should have redistributed our time and spent more time here. There's plenty to do in the area. Albi is close and Lautrec is a gem. Owner Katy was cheerful, flexible and obliging. Breakfast was great. Our room was large and the bed was comfortable. The adjacent weir was a bit loud, but there'd been unseasonal rain so the river was up. We think it would usually be quite soothing.

Thank You for being such easy guests. You made my role very enjoyable and I would love you to visit again.
