Manuela 9 provides spacious and comfortable family accommodation for 4 people with a bright and airy open plan living/dining/kitchen area with doors opening onto a sunny terrace.

It is equipped with a 26 inch flat screen TV and DVD player, IPod speakers, secure free Wi Fi internet access and a selection of DVDs and board games.

The contemporary style kitchen is fully fitted out and has worktops/splashbacks of local Raurisertal stone. It includes a built in cooker, ceramic hob with extractor fan, microwave, fridge and coffee machine, kettle & toaster. There is an extensive range of cutlery, crockery, glasses, cookware and utensils for your use. Children's cutlery, bowls and plates are also provided.

The Salzburg Region

The Rauris valley, the "golden valley of the Alps" is in the heart of the the Hohe Tauern National Park and is a great location for year round outdoor activities.

This is a hikers paradise with a range of walks from leisurely strolls to hikes in alpine pastures or even high Alpine tours. There are 295 km of marked hiking paths and 40 mountain inns in the Raurisertal which is one of the largest and most beautiful hiking areas in the Salzburgerland.

There is also plenty of scope for cycling with a number of cyclepaths in the valley as well as more adventurous mountain bike trails within striking distance.

Some of the largest ski areas in Austria are within a 20-40 minutes drive. With the Salzburg Superski Card you can access to a wide variety of skiing in other resorts such as Zell an See, HochKoenig, Kaprun (including its glacier), Gastein and others. If you like variety ski a different resort every day !

Rauris

The main ski area in Rauris is accessible from the Hochalmbahn gondola which is approximately 400m from the apartment. The area is easy to navigate and offers a broad variety of slopes for every standard of skier. Off piste skiing is a possibility depending on conditions, but guide advised/recommended.

The nursery slopes, ski hire and ski school meeting point are all situated conveniently at the base of the gondola. From here it is possible to take the Hochalmbahn up to 1780m and a second gondola (the Gipfelbahn) to over 2000m.

You can ski down from the top on blue and red runs to the middle station with more challenging red and black routes down to the village itself.

There are several mountain restaurants on the slopes all serving local fare as well as a couple of bars/huts at the base where you can enjoy a snack or drink after skiing or whilst waiting for friends.

If you prefer a more gentle pace but still want to experience the mountains, there are 45km of cleared hiking paths that you can explore with snowshoes! Additionally there are 45km of groomed cross-country piste including 5 loops at elevations between 950 and 1200 metres

A toboggan run can be accessed from the top of the Kreuzboden chairlift and toboggans hired at the restaurant. This is even open a couple of evenings a week conditions permitting and it great fun for family outings.

In the summer, hiking, rafting (Taxenbach), mountain biking, and paragliding are all on hand. A number of golf courses are within easy reach at Zell an See, Goldegg and Bad Gastein.

There are also many diversions for the family - you can try your hand at panning for gold (when gold mining was at its height 10% of the world's gold supply was brought to the surface in this valley !) bread baking at a hill farm or trying the local schnapps at one of several family distilleries (brennerei) .

Take in the bird of prey show, or spend an afternoon at the nearby outdoor pool with its own 50m slide. There is also a summer park and mini golf course in the village.

There are excellent pool/spa complexes at Badhofgastein and just recently opened in Kaprun

“High quality accommodation convenient to slopes and town.”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2014

The apartment is located in a modern developement within walking distance of the ski slopes! The apartment is ground floor and matched the description on the website, it was very well equipped and had a few extra hidden surprises like a great selection of DVD's which our 6 year old was very happy about. She also had her own room which was also a big advantage. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were excellent and the complex had it's own bar and resturant. The apartment is equally convenient to the town and gondola. We can recommend this apartment. Bernard Eivers

“A truly wonderful place”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2013

My wife and I visited Rauris for the first time with our two sons (12 & 9). It is absolutely stunning and indeed we were all taken by the cleanliness and order of Austria as a whole. The mountains are quite amazing and that was reinforced by a drive on the Gross Glockner which took us to almost 2600m at Bikers Point. Nearly twice Ben Nevis. The views from the local outdoor pool are quite amazing as you look over the town and on towards the snow capped mountains, notwithstanding it was 37 deg C at times. The apartments was first class and we often made use of the indoor pool at the end of a very warm day. The staff at the tourist info Centre were exceptional and given that we split our two weeks between relaxation and doing stuff, there help was very much appreciated. A trip to Salzburg on the train is also a must. 32 euros for the family but be careful as not all trains are covered at that price. That said, we had a very pragmatic conductor who let us off!!! The apt has a washing machine, which coupled with the hot weather and access to a tumble drier meant we really didn't need to take so many clothes. Indeed the apartment had all you could ever need and the box of DVDs were handy for tired nights in. If you do choose to visit, please stay out till after dark and have a look up at the stars, they are truly amazing and I haven't seen anything like it since I sailed up the Baltic Sea. Altogether quite magnificent.

Thank you very much for your feedback - we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Manuela9, and exploring the Salzburg area. Thank you also for your tip regarding the train tickets to Salzburg as we can pass this info on to any future guests.

“EXCELLENT LOCATION AND SUPER APARTMENT”

Reviewed 20 Feb 2012

Excellent communication and information received prior to our visit. The apartment was spacious and well equipped. The location was spot on, not too far from lifts and ski hire. The village was very pretty and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Good supermarket nearby too. The best bit was having a nice apartment to come back to after skiing all day.

“Comfortable Apartment in Perfect Location”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2011

We stayed in apartment Manuela 9 in the first 2 weeks of August. It was a private letting which can be found on holidaylettings.co.uk. The apartment was very comfortable, with plenty of space for our party of two adults, and our 2 young sons. The apartment had everything we needed, and it was only a short walk into the village of Rauris. There is an on site pool, and a small play area. However the play area at the nearby Sommer Park was much bigger, with a shallow mountain stream running through it which kept the kids amused for hours, whilst we supervised from the park cafe with beer/coffee etc!!. The location in the Rauris Valley is great with loads to do. We purchased a Salzburgerland Card, which gave us free (or discounted) access to many attractions, cable cars/gondolas, lots of outdoor heated pools throughout the area and Mini Golf. We visited the Kitzlochklamm at Taxenbach, and also Krimml Falls a bit further afield. Other highlights included the “Ghost Mountain” at Alpendorf, where there was absolutely loads for the kids to do. We also went to the Kitzsteinhorn for a visit to the Summer Ice Arena - lots of summer sledging fun. Good child friendly eating out spots were the Landgasthaus Wiexen and the Sonnblick in Rauris village. In conclusion a great base and comfortable apartment.

“Superb location, superb presentation and very helpful owners”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2011

The owners kindly sought out appropriate restaurants for my wife before our stay and various tourist leaflets for the area. Warm welcome by their representative. No problems during the stay. Lovely indoor pool adjacent. Easy 5 minute walk to town centre of Rauris. Good nearby restaurants. We did two great walks of 1000m ascent starting at the accommodation. Beautiful location. Amenities for self catering first class. Good TV with nice selection of DVDs. Would most certainly go back. Spa facilities good although Spa gym equipment could do with a little care and attention. Good location to explore other areas. All in all an excellent holiday for us.
