Description

Only 15 minutes from the centre of Narbonne yet very much in the heart of the countryside, Raissac d'Aude is a small, friendly and very quiet village.

Located at the entrance to the village, this beautiful, very private 19th Century Master's House is an exceptionally large family friendly 6 bedroom property of some 325sqm over 3 floors with its own private pool, and comfortably accommodates a maximum of 8 adults and up to 2 children. The house dates back to the 1850s but has been sympathetically renovated to provide all modern conveniences and amazing spaces for a relaxing holiday. The property is available to rent from May to September inclusive.

The entrance to Le Petit Chateau (lepetitchateau.online) is through imposing white wrought iron gates leading on to a shared gravel driveway with ample parking for up to 4 cars. On all sides the property is surrounded by its own private grounds of just under an acre.

To the rear there is the 10x5 fully enclosed swimming pool which is sunny from early morning through to early evening and overlooked by the majestic 200 year old Cedar tree. Aside from sun loungers, there is lounging-dining facilities under the abri by the pool which has a "cuisine d'été", CampingGaz bbq, sink and small fridge freezer ample to store drinks etc.

The garden is laid to lawn on three sides with plenty of trees and shrubby borders offering numerous seating spaces whether seeking sun or shade.

Entrance to the main house is through large oak doors to the front and rear. Double french doors then lead you into the hallway where the walls replicate the original wallpaper in fresco paint.

At the front of the house, there are 2 spacious salons, one serves for TV viewing and boasts an amazing Louis XV fireplace and ornate ceilings; on the opposite side is a formal dining room which has a substantial open fireplace and oak mantle.

At the back of the house is a fully equipped kitchen with a beautiful arched window overlooking the side lawn which streams in the early morning sun. An oak kitchen table comfortably seats 8.

The utility room across the hallway offers extra seating and cupboards, 2 fridge freezers and laundry facilities.

There is a downstairs cloakroom by the back door.

Entrance to the games room is through the stable doors where there is table tennis, darts and other board games to be enjoyed. Here you will also find some beach gear like foldable chairs, beach mats and umbrellas which you are welcome to use.

On the 1st floor the modern family walk-in shower room is shared by three of the five well appointed large bedrooms. Two bedrooms have their own shower-toilet facilities.

The wide staircase leads onto the 2nd floor and a master bedroom with en-suite.

Changeover is Saturday 16.00 to Saturday 10.00.

Payment is accepted online through the booking agent.

A Damage Deposit of €650 is held and refunded by the booking agent 10 days following departure provided there is no damage and the property is left as found.

Bed linen, towels and beach towels are included.

Water and electricity is included (except for Winter lets, oil central heating is an extra charge of €500 per week)

Getting around

A car is a recommended for getting around but if you wish to visit Narbonne, particularly on market day (Thursdays) you could take the local bus service from the village for one Euro each way (times posted at bus stop). Bike hire - Mellow Velos of Paraza provide good bicycles which they are happy to deliver to you on your arrival.

“Warm, welcoming and simply stunning!!”

Located in Raissac (not far from Toulouse), this beautiful 1800 century home has been updated with class and would not hesitate to go back to, and would highly recommend to friends. Lots of room for a family to stay in or share with others. The pool area is gorgeous, the gardens and sitting areas allow room for everyone to find their "quiet" spot. Ingrid is most welcoming and the perfect hostess. Surrounding areas offer great biking roads, wonderful small towns close by, for day trips, and so many restaurants in surrounding area to choose from, often alongside a canal where you can relax and enjoy your wine and watch the world go by:) Simply the "perfect" spot to settle int, relax and explore the French way of life!!

We spent 2 outstanding weeks in the Manor in Raissac. Splendidly furnished and decorated in traditional french decor. All bedrooms very comfortable. Kitchen on the main floor with everything you need supplied. Can't say enough about pool and bbq area. Raissac close to Narbonne and other towns with great shopping and markets. Owner on sight and always offering advice for places and sights to visit. A definite 10 for a memorable holiday in southern France. We'll be back.

very nice surroundings to explore by bike and by car . Carcassone is around 50 min and worth to visit . The coast is not too far around half an hour to 1 hour. Gruissan is ideal for windsurfing and kiting. also Argèles sur Mer is fantastic for windsurfers but 1,5 hour drive from the home. inside the house everything is at disposal. nice bedrooms especially the bedroom and bathroom on the second floor is like a suite and beautiful. the swimmingpool is fantastic as well the whole garden. you can eat always outside because there are different spaces to do so. there is also a fridge in the pool house. some things to know : the nearest supermarkets namely Carrrefour, Lidl and Intermarché are not so near to the house namely around 12 km. they apply normal prices. there is also a small supermarket CAsino in Villedaigne around 2 km from the house but very expensive and very limited choice without fresh fruits. not recommended there is a grocery store on the other side of the road but only open from 8.30 till 9.30 h and about bread you have to order one day in advance and choice is very limited. so we bought our bread at the friendly bakery in Villledaigne. this baker has also very good small pizza's and guiche lorraine . we plan to go back . the owner of the house lives at the property in an appartment which is situated in one part of the house. during the third week of july we had three days of high winds. weather in this region is not too hot between 28 and 32 degrees which is ideal.
