THE POOL

The swimming pool is immersed in a garden lush with flowers and olive trees offering a splendid view:
the rolling Tuscan hills. The swimming pool is treated with copper and silver which, unlike conventional chemical products, are oligo-elements that have beneficial effects on the human body, a fact acknowledged as early back as the ancient Greek and Roman times.Their action is essentially based on the slow release of copper and silver ions.Copper ions have a powerful algicidic effect, while silver ions are disinfectant and bacteriostatic.
They are combined with a small amount of chlorine to efficaciously disinfect the swimming pool water.
A correct and accurate water treatment is fundamental for a thorough hygiene of both water and bathers.

Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

In general : Within 35 km from Vecchio Mulino are some of the most important historical and artistic sites of Tuscany which maintain, in their old town centres and in their museums, works of art of great value.

The charming landscape of the area alternates rolling hills cultivated with olives groves and vineyards to more savage places in which the grey of the clay gullies mix up with the yellow of the ripe wheat.

Set on the green hills just a few kilometres from the medieval towns of Radicondoli and Belforte, Il Vecchio Mulino is perfectly positioned to reach the most attractive areas of Tuscany, filled with art and culture. Just a short journey separates it from magical places rich in history like Siena, Florence, Volterra, Radicondoli, Monteriggioni, Colle Val d'Elsa, San Gimignano, San Galgano and other beautiful places steeped in culture.

Radicondoli's castle was built in the twelfth century on the site of an existing inhabited centre, the same development took place for the castles of Belforte, Falsini and Fosini. There are archaeological findings going back to the early paleolithic times, through to the Etruscan and then the Roman periods. However, the most enduring aspect of the village is its medieval development which has been so well preserved so that we now have an almost totally unaltered medieval landscape and urban structure.

“would I stay there again? No”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2012

There were three of us so Nespolo was more than ample space wise. The "apartment" was OK, clean but fairly basic. It didn't have any private outside space and so we tended to eat inside or go out to eat. The location of the "farmhouse" is not great. It is off a main road and whilst you could not really hear the noise of the road from inside you could whilst lying by the pool. Also it is not really close by in terms of walking distance to anywhere apart from Belforte (which would be an uphill walk) and there was not a lot there. There is also a resident dog(s) at the farmhouse which come over from the next door farm. We didn't mind as we like dogs but if you are not a fan of dogs then I could understand that this might not be suitable especially as one quite liked you to rub his ears whilst you were lying by the pool and if you didn't he was likley to join you on your sun lounger! Overall it was OK. The grounds surrounding the farmhouse were not kept very well whilst we were there and the pool could have done with a bit of a clean. The lady running the place was OK met us to collect our money on the first day but after that it was hit an miss if anyone was around.
