Description

Charming, quaint, very comfortable and well-equipped 2-bedroom stone cottage in a small quiet hamlet in Cotes d'Armor. The perfect home-from-home experience in a peaceful rural setting! We purchased this cottage which is full of character in 2014 and we have completely refurnished to a very high standard. The hostess, a French national from the Loire Valley, who is a keen interior designer in her spare time has filled it with family heirlooms and precious souvenirs and has added some brand-new pieces of furniture for a true cottage feel and style. It comprises of lounge/dinner/rustic country style kitchen area stretching the whole of the downstairs area with a wood burner. On the first floor there is a large double bedroom, a twin-bedroom and a bathroom with shower, sink unit and WC.

There is a decking area, large front and back garden (842 m2) with ample parking. The property is fully enclosed and secured with a wooden gate at the bottom of the gravelled driveway and fencing

Location description from owner

The Brittany region

The Côte d'Armor region is well-known for its superb landscapes along the shoreline. However, there is a great deal to discover inland ....The famous 'Côte de Granite Rose' (the Pink Granite Coast) near Perros-Guirec (60 km) where fascinating odd shaped coloured rocks contrast beautifully with the vibrant blue sea, as well as Cap-Fréhel and Cap Erquy, the Fort de la Latte and Trégastel are amongst some of the most stunning places to discover to name just a few. A boat trip out to the Sept Iles is a must. This is an amazing bird sanctuary - if you happen to be here in June, you might even spot a few puffins before they migrate. Other pretty places along the coast are the port of Dinan and the town of Paimpol (48.5 km).The nearest beach, Binic, is 40 km (30 minutes) from the cottage. The port-cum-resort of Binic has one of the longest, broadest beach (Plage de la Banche). Another smaller and more secluded beach is tucked away to the north, beyond the harbour. The artificial lake, Lac de Guerlédan, is located 34 km from Senven-Lehart where you will find a fantastic variety of activities such as swimming, hiking, cycling and various watersports. To the east of the Côtes d'Armor you will come across the Emerald Coast and the elegant town of Dinard and beautiful old walled city of St Malo. South of Dinard, you will discover Dinan, a medieval town on the Rance river.

Quintin

Kerauffet Cottage is located 98 km from Roscoff ferry port (1hour 15 min drive). The nearest villages, Senven-Lehart and Saint-Connan, are both 1.6 km (1 mile) away from the cottage. In Saint-Connan you will find a bar/supermarket which is well stocked and in Senven-Lehart a restaurant and a butcher/bar.In Saint-Connan there is a lake, L'Etang Neuf, where fly fishing is very popular with the locals and the tourists. You will also find a restaurant (l'Auberge de l'Etang Neuf) with a large decking area overlooking the lake and a museum dedicated to The Resistance in Argoat. Art classes/courses are available at this stunning location. The pretty historical town of Quintin with its two chateaux (one of these can be visited) and old streets with medieval houses, some listed, is only 12 km (8 miles) away, i.e. a maximum 20-minute drive. It offers a great variety of shops such as supermarkets (Leclerc, Carefour, Lidl), boulangeries/patisseries, banks, post office, garden centre, florists, optician, doctors & pharmacies in case of an emergency.Bourbriac is also a 20-minute drive from the cottage. There are a few shops and a bank there too but not as many as in Quintin. It offers some great walks for ramblers such as Tour de St-Houarneau (7 km), An tri Eskop (11 km) and shorter ones such as Coat Liou (1,3 km and 5,4 km).The larger town of Guingamp is located 21 km (25 minutes) and the city of Saint-Brieuc which is the department capital is only 29 km away from the house if you fancy a shopping day.

“Tastefully decorated cottage, relaxing stay”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2014

The cottage has ben tastefully decorated and furnished and was welcoming, as were the British neighbours. Our kids loved the cats and dogs next door, who were friendly and not intrusive! The cottage is well located to visit the local towns and beaches about 1/2 hr away - recommend Binic. My only suggestions for improvement would be that whilst the cottage was lovely and clean the bathroom was less so. We couldn't get the English TV working, but it didn't bother us as we were out most of the time. Neighbours would have been happy to sort. Overall would recommend though.

Thank you for your review. Glad your enjoyed your stay. Naturally concerned about the sentence regarding the bathroom. Please elaborate so that this can be addressed as we pay someone to clean the house and wish to maintain high standards at all times.
