Location description from owner

The Algarve region

The Algarve is well known for its blue sky and sunshine, making it an ideal holiday destination throughout the year. Average daytime temperatures range during winter from 14-20 degrees and during the summer months June-September, 25-35 degrees, sometimes higher!
The Central Algarve region really does have something to suit everyone, beaches, historical towns, waterparks, shopping centres, potteries, traditional villages nestled into the hills, vineyards, orange groves, olive trees, beautiful churches and much more

Querenca

During the day there are a range of activities - whether you want to just relax and sit in the sun and read a book or enjoy the variety of excellent sandy beaches the area has to offer; play golf on one of the many top, world class courses; have fun at the water parks (Aquashow, the closest offers the largest roller coaster water ride in Europe, or swim with dolphins at Zoomarine); enjoy scuba diving; deep sea fishing; take a boat trip; hire a bicycle; go-karting; horse riding, you will find them all in the Algarve.
At night the vast array of restaurants and cuisines beckon, offering a wide range of cullinary experiences whether you are looking for somewhere simple to eat, a romantic evening, traditional fayre, lively environment, bar, casino, club or disco, all can be found in the region.
The warm evenings of summer lend themselves to open air concerts, festas celebrating many local events. White Night in Loule at the end of August is a recently added 'must' to the social calendar.

“It's all true”

Nothing to add to previous reviews - apart from saying "It's all true" - highly recommended. Access is via stairs - so unsuitable for anyone unable to handle these.

“Fantastic place for a peaceful stay in Algarve”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2012

We went to this apartment rental for a 4 day break after our wedding. After receiving the driving directions and had a look on the internet, we thought we were going to have problems looking for the place. This simply wasn't the case - you could find it even without a SatNav if you follow the directions given. When we got to the location, we were warmly welcomed by the owners Anne and Bob, who were so understanding to their guests and managed to keep a very low profile throughout the holiday. The apartment is at the top floor of their house, with an extension to a patio completed with an outdoor dining area and a private swimming pool. The apartment itself was clean and tidy, and comes with everything you need from cooking your meal to the sunbrella for the beach! The view from the room was beautiful, and the whole place was so peaceful, which was great because we could catch up some much needed sleep. At the same time it's only a 20mins drive to some of the best beaches along Algarve, and we certainly took advantage of that! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful stay away from the crowds yet hoping to enjoy the popular beach! Oh and the town (Querenca) also has a restaurant which is a hidden treasure as well!

“Perfect for a peaceful, relaxing week away.”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2012

The apartment was larger than we expected, spotlessly clean and the welcome goody bag was a very pleasant surprise with everything we could have asked for to cater for our late arrival. The best bit about the apartment however is the wonderfully spacious, completely private, sun-drenched terrace and large immaculate pool. We were looking for a quite week to recharge our batteries and Casa des Cartes exceeded our expectations in every way - the outdoor eating areas and BBQ were so inviting with lovely views we didn't even feel the need to eat out. Anne and Bob were very friendly and welcoming, offering advice on local attractions and were always available if we needed them, but otherwise left us to enjoy the terrace. We hired a car for the week and there are several nice beaches within a 30 minute drive, and plenty of nice restaurant for a spot of lunch. Overall, we would highly recommend the apartment as it really did exceed our expectations.

“A truly relaxing holiday with beautiful views.”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2012

If you want to relax in beautiful surroundings then this is the place to go. We were welcomed to the property by the owners (who had kindly left us some essential food and drinks)and shown round then just left to relax and enjoy the beautiful pool and appartment. Everything you might ever need is supplied but if you need anything else you only have to ask and the owners were helpful and friendly. The pool is secluded and you have total privacy with fantastic views over the mountains. The gas BBQ serves as your cooker and we cooked fish or garlic prawns most nights on this. We had a hire car which made shopping and trips into the mountains easier but there is a bus stop near the appartment. This was our second visit to Casa Das Carters and will definately not be our last.

“peaceful relaxing break for two”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2012

Warm and friendly welcome by Ann and Bob who were very helpful. We were after a very quiet time away for just the two of us and that is exactly what we got. We had complete privacy with the lovely warm pool and large patio with bbq area. A car is essential and there is a great market in Loule for fresh fish, meat and vegetables.

“Idyllic peaceful retreat with wonderful views, friendly helpful owners on site & excellent accommodation.”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2012

Excellent sef-catering accommodation but with the added bonus of having extremely helpful owners on site. A welcome pack awaits you and we loved the great sized immaculately clean pool, gas barbeque and loads of outside seating available exclusively for us. The balcony at the front of the property means you can sit out until the sun sets enjoying the lovely views of the surrounding hills. If you are a soap TV fan, the Sky TV channels mean you won't have to miss anything whilst you are away! The location is handy for the shops at Loule and its only a short drive to the Algarve coast - but a car is essential. The owners provided us with the names of some great local restaurants.

“Fantastic stay - highly recommended”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2012

We had a fantastic stay in Portugal thanks to this lovely villa. The villa itself was immaculate and private. Anne and Bob were amazing hosts and made us feel very welcome, but also gave us our space. The pool was clean and a good size and really warmed up when we had a sunny day. The square at the top on the hill has a lovely cafe that we visited regularly, a church and a restaurant. Your a short drive away from Loule or a 15 EURO taxi ride. All in all, we had a wonderful time, the villa is lovely and we highly recommend it.

“Superb!!!!”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2012

What a place I don't know what to say!!! The apartment is beautiful and sparkling clean. Fabulous shower, sky tv for the day it rained, glorious balcony overlooking the hills, private pool and huge terrace with BBQ, sun loungers and two dining areas, beautiful outdoor lighting and perfectly kept gardens. And then there is Anne and Bob whom are wonderful hosts and leave you to it but welcome you to knock if you need anything. We went for ten days, had one night in albuferia and enjoyed strolling around querença and Loulè. Also spent time at vilamoura which is outstanding! Hopefully heading back soon! A car is an absolute must however!

“A truly lovely hidden gem!”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2012

This is the perfect place to stay if you want total privacy (yet help right at hand if you need it), a great pool, very large private terrace with barbecue, sun loungers, tables etc and small garden and a beautifully decorated and extremely spacious studio apartment with ensuite and a front balcony (great for 2 friends or a couple). The family that own this property are great with little touches and clearly truly care to make their guests' stay just as they want it. The views are incredible, surrounded by countryside but with a few other detached neighbours along the road (virtually no cars). Walking distance to local village with all amenities and restaurant. Also about 25-60 minutes driving to the resorts, so we still went out to the restaurants and nightclubs there (however, we always drove so don't know about public transport). If you want to avoid to the 18-30s raucous scene, we recommend going to Casa do Cerro and Setima Onda bar/nightclubs in Albufeira. Perfect base from which to visit local villages, town, beaches and attractions by car.
